I run 93 only, I didn’t spend extra cash on a 6.2 just to cheap out on the gas.

I’m getting just over 16 so far for 4000 miles according to the trip  computer...sounds a feels about right. 6,2 AT4 with 33” KO2s perf exhaust and cai.

What octane gasoline is everybody using? I'm waiting on my Sierra with the 6.2 to be delivered. Anybody running 87, 89 octane with any ill effects? Hopefully mine will show up in the next couple of weeks. It was made in Mexico which I'm a little upset about, I wish I could have been built in Indiana. I was told by dealer in was going to be Made In USA. 

 

Only high octane fuel for the 6.2, it’s a high performance engine that’s tuned completely different from its little siblings, treat it right and you’ll have it running great for a great many years. Treat it like a cheap ass and you’ll regret owning it, it’ll start knocking and can and will eventually damage the engine which will cost you HUGE on repairs. The 6.2’s do not do well with anything less than super. Good luck

Thanks. I plan on using 93 octane, and full synthetic oil. I plan on keeping it for a while. Right now I'm driving a 2000 truck, so I usually take care of what I have.

Great to hear that, your 6.2 will definitely put a whole lot more smiles per miles when it’s happy. Btw, not sure you’re aware of this but full synthetic is not 100% synthetic unless it actually says 100% synthetic.

Read the Mobil1 bottle (full synthetic only) versus Amsoil 100% synthetic. I run mostly Mobil1 annual protection every 4K miles. Good luck

Mobil 1 makes a great Dexos 0w20. Have to make sure whatever you use carries the Dexos Gen2 spec to protect your warranty. Anyway, you sure are in for a treat going from a 19 year old truck.

A little over 4000 miles. I'm averaging 16.3. Mostly a mix of hilly rural and some city stop and go.

<K2xx 6.2 with BB tune owner

 

Just had my truck in for service and had a ‘19 denali for 4 days. Had like 800 miles on it. Obviously on dealer ‘87 octane.

 

Heard audible knocking at WOT couple times. Clear as day.

 

Test drove another denali a few months ago and I thought I heard a slight knock but wasn’t sure. Definitely confirmed with this 4 day test drive.

 

Truck was in sport mode if that matters. Don’t know if they change engine parameters for that.

 

Never put ‘87 in in ‘19+ 6.2, that’s for damn sure.

 

On another note. Denali felt kinda slow the first day.  I think it adapted to my aggressive driving style. Was pretty quick when I dropped it off. Although the magazines have my 6sp 6.2 a bit quicker stock, and with my BB tune it should be even more of a difference, when I got back in my truck I confirmed the butt dyno, new 6.2 is just as quick and at certain times felt slightly faster than my truck. New 10speed is awesome.

 

Inwas hoping the new truck got better gas mileage, but that’s a big negative. Same average. 8.5ish (dense NJ driving plus lead foot)

My last gas truck had a 6.2. Ran it with 89 most of the time. Never had an issue. Had 189000km on it still ran like a top. But I did have a catch can. No oil in my intake to lower fuel octane levels. Plus I didn’t dog my truck or run wot very often. Mostly highway driving for me. Even with 89 I was still able to achieve 21-22 mpg.

    • Fred was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young pullets, and ten roosters to fertilize the eggs He kept records, and any rooster not performing went into the soup pot and was replaced. This took a lot of time, so he bought some tiny bells and attached them to his roosters. Each bell had a different tone, so he could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing. Now, he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report by just listening to the bells. The result was the judges not only awarded old Butch the "No Bell Piece Prize," but they also awarded him the "Pulletsurprise" as well. Clearly old Butch was a politician in the making. Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the unsuspecting populace and screwing them when they weren't paying attention. Vote carefully in the next election, you can't always hear the bells.
    • Can someone confirm if the GM order workbench terminal is able to validate a custom build sequence:   1) Initialize the Allocation Base: Open a new vehicle build queue, select the 2026 Chevrolet Suburban 4WD, and pick the High Country (3LZ Preferred Equipment Group).   2) Select the Diesel Powertrain: Go directly to the engine configuration screen and choose RPO code LZ0 (3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel). Ensure it maps to the MHS 10-speed automatic transmission.   3) Deploy the Seating Swap: Navigate to the Interior Options screen and enter RPO code ATT to replace the standard captain's chairs with the power-release 60/40 bench seat. Because you are not trying to force a separate luxury or air-suspension bundle, the standard, premium D07 Fixed Floor Console remains active. The system will accept this change immediately without triggering a warning message.   3)Apply Heavy-Duty Hauling Capability: Input RPO code NHT (Max Trailering Package). The commercial terminal will automatically bundle the required trailering hardware and software modules to support the diesel engine's maximum towing capacity.   5) Layer the Premium Tech and Glass: Separately add code C3U (Panoramic Power Sunroof) and code UKL (Super Cruise) to the order screen.   6) Run the Final Validation: Click the "Validate Order" button at the bottom of the interface.
    • Spent the last hour or 2 googling and reading up on the spacer thing. I don't like the loss of thread contact on the slip on spacers, but it appears you can get "extended" lug nuts that reach into the hole of the wheel to get back the lost threads. Looks like the only true hubcentric slip on spacers are at least .375". I'd want as little as I could get away with and don't want to cause other clearance issues going any thicker. Bora seems to offer what appears to be a well made .375" spacer and extended lug nuts. I searched here and did find a couple threads recommending Bora. But not cheap. By the time I buy spacers and lugs, new TPMS sensors, then pay a tire shop to install the new sensors, I suspect I'm going to be in over $400. Thinking about running out and getting some washers to put behind the wheel to see if .375" is enough to clear calipers, turn lock to lock without rubbing, and to see if the wheels/tires look strange pushed out a little. This would just be to check fitment.
    • Roadmaster makes some quality parts; I have their sway bar. I considered the RAS, but I ended up bagging. I didn't know what kind of ride I'd get with RAS, and the bags have interior jounce bumpers, so I can run 0 pounds pressure. I figured I'd have the best of normal suspension ride with assist on-demand. But it seems you got pretty much the same in one item.
