I just installed a set of Nfab rock sliders with removable steps. The factory running boards ( "Butter Boards") are very cheap and bend when touched by just about anything. I love the look and the functionality. They installed using the factory holes and hardware, only had to drill one hole on each side. Eight bolts hold the factory ones on with 4 points of contact to the truck and are easily removed. The Nfab rkr Rails will actually protect your truck. If the factory ones bend they will damage the lower section of the body, not good. Has anyone else installed aftermarket running boards or rock sliders? Love to see pics!

Other mods i've done are:

General Grabber A/T Tires 285 60 20 load range E ( 10 ply )

Painted factory wheels Piano Black

GMC Black Logos front and rear

Removed the "Sierra" script from the tailgate

My plan is to ad a Kicker Sub, i'm not real impressed by the Bose system, install a 2" leveling kit, exhaust and intake and a roll up bed cover.

Those Nfab rails look really nice.   As far as protection, you mean they won't fold up like an aluminum can when someone else door hits it?   I like the minimal looking design.   You don't think you will get tripped up on them getting in \ out at all?    Sharp looking truck!

Thank you. Nfab makes great products. Getting in is easy, the steps are very ergo. You do have to be mindful getting out and make sure you step correctly. I haven't tripped or had an issue yet. The steps do come off easily, 2 bolts and they are gone. Just in case you decide to off-road and you don't want them to hang up on a tree or a rock.

Did you paint the stock 20" wheels? What's going on there?

Edit: Missed the line in your post where you said that you painted them. Cool stuff. Can I get that done somewhere, or did you do that yourself?

Had them done by a local shop in Portland Oregon. Columbia Sales and Service. I was charged $400 for all 4. They turned out well, i'm very happy.

Reviving this thread.

Black, do you happen to have any pictures of the sliders while your door is open? From a point of view as your getting out of the vehicle? I didn’t find many angles on their site.

I just installed some GoRhino's RB20 "bed liner coated" on mine.....I wanted a full length board that was close to the body of the truck. A few reasons....they stick out far enough and the truck has the lift to where any small car who attempts a door ding will meet the fate of the board lol.....and I have a young kid (another on the way) that I don't want their foot slipping between the board and the truck getting stuck. These are within 1/4 inch of the body.

How do you like the Grabbers?  Smooth and quiet on the highway?  Any noticeable loss of power with the heavier tires?  Sweet looking ride!

Have any closer pics of how those mount?

Any side view pics?

I can take someone tomorrow......they took me about 1.5 hours to install...and that included unpacking them and getting my tools ready.  .....super easy.  They mount to the factory holes if you were to order them already installed. I think there are 5 braces under the running boards you install first. You just pull out the plastic plugs in the pre-threaded holes in the frame. If you can use needle nose pliers and a socket wrench or impact gun you can install these yourselves.

I like the N-Fab products and installed this same "model" rock rail on my wife's JL Wrangler.  Very effective and stout yet tuck in nicely.  I don't understand why anybody would put handicapped steps/boards on a 4 wheel drive truck unless they're truly handicapped with a walker or wheelchair?  The first time you do any real off roading they'll get destroyed by rocks and trail obstacles.  Same for a 2 wheel drive but what the hell do I know.  My last two daily driver vehicles prior to my AT4 were Tahoes and I removed those stupid handicapped steps the same day I brought the truck home.  Matter of fact I think I still have the two sets up in my attic...
