Those $130 ones are junk

Aren't they the same as the factory ones GM puts on the trucks?

Good to know. I was fooled by the ebay listings.. Unfortunately after about 65k miles my OEM boards were corroded really badly on the surface so I sanded them down and they look like more of a brushed aluminum now... I may paint 'em black once the weather gets better...

I would get them sand blasted and powder coated black. That's how I did my tubulars and they look amazing and can hold up to rocks very well

I actually got a quote to have them line-x coated, I think around $350... If you don't mind: how much $$ to have 'em powder coated/

I paid $100 for both.

To be fair he was a guy that is just starting his own shop and trying to get work. I don't think $200 is a bad price if you can find it in that range.

Thanks for the info... I am not sure what I'll do...

Can somebody just do this so I can see what it looks like? I like the sound of it.

I was quoted $300 from 2 different shops to bed liner spray my running boards.

I bought a set of the tri-mode running boards and really just want the chrome strip on the sides covered up.

Just to follow up

ended up selling the crew cab running boards to someone else for 180.

Never got to try cutting them down.

I'll park my CC next to a buddy's DC, both with step rails, and take a picture while standing in one of the beds, looking down.  Then I'll take a left or right side picture of both trucks, and superimpose one over the other.

I hate plastidip. Stuff scrapes off way too easy.

I'm going to buy a DIY bed liner spray kit, $110 on amazon (Raptor brand). Friend of mine has had good success with it.

I doubt it will work. I just installed a wheel-to-wheel set on my 2500 CCLB, there was 5 mounting brackets per side. Each location had to be exact because the mounts would bolt on to the truck in one possible location, then the board was tapped to bolt onto the mounts. So if the mount was out even 1" off the set position the board would not bolt to the mounts. It is unlikely that the mounting locations will have the correct spacing on a Dbl Cab vs. a Crew but let us know how you make out. Maybe the OEM boards mount differently, I think my Dbl Cab 6.2L has 3 mounts on OEM boards, I will check later.
