Have a 2017 Silverado 2500 Duramax LTZ. Last week the DIC in the instrument cluster didn't go blank (or black), it looked like an LCD that malfunctioned. I looked and it seems there is only one connector for the whole cluster and I don't think reseating it will fix it, but have not yet tried...Also, it will come back every once in a while and work for a bit, then back to the screen below.

Anyone have any DIY thoughts on what to do or do I need a new cluster or to repair this one?

Also, the truck is most likely out of warranty, via mileage.

So I tore apart the dash and removed the instrument cluster, took the covers off and reseated what looks like the ribbon cable for the DIC. Its working for now. Not sure if this is long term or if it'll keep working. If anyone else has had this issue I would be curious of the outcome. I have attached pics of it disassembled if it helps anyone. The good thing is, it was easy to take apart to where I had it. The next step would be to remove the LCD and see if there is a part number on it and if it could be easily replaced. But I don't want to take the LCD out until I know its totally not working in case I wreck it when taking it out.

Your truck is a 2017?  I think you posted it under the 2019/2020 Silverado/Sierra page.  Not sure if that matters?

Hrm, good point, must have redirected after I logged in and didn't notice. I'll try to move it if not, i meant to put it under the correct forum under troubleshooting....

Did this resolve for you? I also have a 2017 Silverado 2500 duramax LTZ with the same exact issue. The screen glows white and has lines through it as if the lcd screen is going bad but then it will start randomly working again.

    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
