I own a 2019 AT4, loaded.  I’ve had it for two weeks, been on vacation so it literally has 400km on it.  I go to leave my house and the gear shifter will not allow me to shift it out of park.  I stopped and started the truck a bunch of times and after about 10 minutes everything went normal and I was able to shift into reverse and leave.  The next day I went to run a few errands, everything was fine, then in a parking lot same thing happened only this time it never fixed itself eventually and I had to get my brand new truck towed to a dealership.  Anybody ever run into this before?  Pretty frustrating considering it hasn’t even gone through an entire tank of gas yet and I’ve had to tow it to the shop. ...

I know that a few people have talked about this, from what i remember it should only happen when you use the phone to start the vehicle and it will never happen when you use the key fob.

Also, i believe that it is a TSB but i'm not sure if there is a fix yet.

Hmmm strange.  Mine did it no matter which way I started it.  The dealership is flying in an entirely new steering column and replacing it all.

They ran tests and found it wasn’t anything electrical or transmission related..

Mine is currently at the dealer getting a new column.  The shifter would not go completely into park, not allowing the doors to unlock or the vehicle to start back up.  They say a loose bolt has wallered out the threads and the column has to be replaced.  Only 11k miles.

2019 AT4 owner here. 4500 KMs and started acting like that recently. Acts up at random places, gas station once, picking up someone, a friend who wanted to check it out. Really embarrassing.

Dealer told me to bring it on Jan 16 2020. So far not impressed. Just came from RAM too.

I just bought a fully loaded AT4 3 weeks ago and the same thing is happening to me too. First time in a GM vehicle and not impressed at all! After spending close to 60k I expected a great product and so far I would’ve been better off staying in my 2013 Jeep.

The dealership started it up today and everything worked normal again.  They compared the shifter in mine too other AT4’s on the lot and said mine feels very stiff compared to the rest.

What was the outcome?

Buddies RST does it. Man does it piss him off. His has done it a dozen times. He doesn’t have the phone app at all.

Just bought a 2020 gmc 2500 one week ago. 3 times now its failed to shift out of park without turning it off then restarting. Often have keep pumping the brake before it'll let go. Took to dealer on 1/6 and of course they couldnt find anything wrong. Happened again today. I don't know what to do at this point.

Myself and my assistant chief are experiencing this issue. I have a 2020 AT4 and he has a 2020 ALT. Haven't found a solution yet. Sometimes I'll pull the truck into the garage and put it into park and the shifter immediately gets stuck. 99 percent of the time the truck gets stuck when starting her up.

The solution was found already by the OP, it's a bad column and of course like the window problem GM rather upset their customers and #@#@ them around instead of fixing the obvious problem!

Am I supposed to just walk into my dealership and demand a new steering column? lol

I've had my truck 3 months and have 600 miles on it.

Why not give it a try, it's obvious the column is bad and if you were out of warranty your dealer would no doubt very much come to that conclusion right before handing you a 1-2k bill for the repair. Dealers have no troubles throwing parts at a no longer under warranty car. If anything at least with this one they are not trying to literally use tape or sealant to fix their design flaws.
