Anyone know part number for trailer camera that plugs into ports on rear bumper?

Sdlam, is the connector molded to the cable? Can it be taken apart for conector repair. Also will a standard RCA cable fit on the end to extend the factory cable?

OK, so I have a 2020 Chevy 3500HD.  I do not like having to string a cable from the rear of my 34' trailer to use the camera option.  From my understanding, the cable has a DC bias for the camera with

Honestly I put zero effort into trying to take it apart. And I didnt need any additional length so I didnt try.

Thanks I appreciate it. If anyone has one of the cameras could you post up some additional info. I did notice the corrugated plastic cover / loom. Wonder what is the OD of that too.

The wire loom is 1/2" on mine.

Measured it to put it inside some stick-on conduit kinda stuff.

Can you take a detail picture of the cable on each end. Where it meets the connector and at the camera. What I am trying to figure IF the cable can be taken apart at either end without destroying the cable assembly. Also the possibility that the loom covering can be removed to the inner cable. Plastic loom usually is not very durable in sun an weather elements. Also IF a standard RCA jack can be extended. I have found on Amazon a HDMI quality cable extension. So this has great interest for me. I have a 48 foot trailer and this afternoon I will measure the entire run.

This is what it mine looks like. Also checked and looks like about 60-65 feet long.

Loom is not a split loom.

Thanks for great pictures. I measured my run and its 62.5 LF. So it appears that tar tape at the bumper connector is more than likely a access point to the inner conductors. On the camera end it appears the corrugated tube is heat shrunk to the camera exit cable. If it is truly    65 LF it would be half of the challenge done. So when GM decides to open the dually production run, then I could order my truck and cameras.

I wo der IF GM has a complete part breakdown of the entire assembly? Any GM engineers have that access?

sdelam, I know you showed those finger pulls molded into the camera plug. What is the diameter of that plug where your thumb finger is at? I could modify it by carefully removing those finger pulls to allow me to pull the cable in. This would make it a lot easier for me. This is without the finger pulls.

Sorry, camper is at the dealer. Lost my grey tank on the way home from the last trip. I'd guess its about 1/2" or si. Probably a little more.

I am working on a different issue, I think it is stupid to have the 4 pin trailer connector in the bed and the camera receptacle in the bumper.

we tow a 5th wheel, so I have swapped the position of the plugs, but the truck camera harness is too short to get the the back of the bed plug.

the connector pictures shown are different connectors than what is at the back of the bed and bumper plugs. Parts manager at dealer where i bought the truck says GM has no breakdown on service parts for the harness or connectors.

Ok. So I am following this thread, but I got lost along the way. Lol. I have just purchased a 2020 GMC 2500 AT4. I am having a trailer built and I need to get the cameras ordered to supply to the trailer builder. I want one in the inside of the trailer to see the contents. As well as one on the back to use the transparent trailer view.  Two dealers that I'm working with tell me that the cameras are not available to order through GM yet and there is no date as to when they will be available.  Does anyone know a part number of the cameras I need to order to make this work so I can get them to the trailer builder? Any help would be very appreciated. I can't anywhere with the dealers. No one seems to know anything about it.

The 2020 HD part number cameras are not released yet. The 2019 1500 cameras are available and do work but dont address optmal placement for the invisable trailer view. I put mine at the top center of the trailer and have had diffculties getting that view to hold its calibration. Someone posted that in order to use that view the rear camera must be closer to the the height of the tailgate camera + a few inches.

Thanks sdelam. Would this camera that you listed above also be the correct camera for inside the trailer to view contents as your traveling down the road?

I beleive its the same camera, just a matter of which plug you use.

      Through the years it hasn't been my typical method as I tried to drop oil on an engine that was hot from having been worked, however that was not always practical and had to fire up a unit and let it warm up reasonably well and drop the oil when I had the time to do it but am referring to not only vehicles but a variety of farm equipment and highway tractors etc. However on a vehicle where one is crawling under it and the exhaust is nearby to ones body and if wanting to pull the plug without danger of being hit with boiling hot oil or attempting to remove a HOT oil filter, its sure safer and easier to not have everything smoking hot and can remove the filter right away when under the vehicle and let it all drain. Of course its not the end of the world if a bit of oil stays in the engine that might have eventually found its way out, I like to get out as much as possible but any oil changes that take place in shops would rarely be sitting around for very long at all before the plug is thrown back in and filter slapped on and oil poured in and sent out the door quick like. There would be very little time spent ( assuming they even did it ) in starting the engine with oil to fill the filter, then waiting to verify the level on the stick. A good reason to check ones oil level shortly after a shop changed the oil on a vehicle just to make sure its correct and to look under for any oil around the drain plug or filter.

      I have changed oil and filter for years by starting a cold engine to warm oil up, let it run 5-10 minutes depending on temperature. Drain until it starts dripping, refill with quantity from owners manual or get it close.

      I changed the factory fill oil in the rear diff of my truck for the first time today and the miles is close to 9000 on the truck. There was a lot of fines on the magnet, a very thick layer but working it through my fingers it all felt like mush and as most know it appears like graphite, so no surprise chunks anyway. Certainly was time to do it from my thinking and could have been done sooner but the oil didn't look awful but sure wasn't new looking and never expected it to either. I did use some solvent to help me clean out the bottom area of the axle housing, just get any other stuff settled at the bottom washed and wiped out of the housing for the bit of effort it takes. I used Amsoil Severe Gear 75W90 in the easy packs to try out what they are like and I used up 4 packs and didn't spill much at all in the process but did take all four of the packs and go to the work bench and emptied them into a measuring container and there certainly was some in them that added up to something, then poured that into one of the easy packs and squirted in what I could get out of it. I would say the level is within 1/8th of an inch of being level with the threads at the fill plug so just the perfect amount. Once again, more than what GM says the fill volume is but computes with what others are adding to their rear diffs as well.
