I really don’t want to spend $900-$1,800 (plus installation) on one of these cat-back systems from Flowmaster, Borla, GM, etc.

Call me cheap, I’m fine with that.

I’ve always bought the muffler I’ve wanted (usually a Super 40) and then added some nice looking tips and had my local muffler shop do the install and run any additional or replacement pipes.

On my 2016, the whole project came out to about $350.

Anyway, have any of you put together an exhaust system on the T1?

I’m looking to see if there is a way to buy some good looking tips without buying the entire cat-back system from Flowmaster or Borla.

I really like the twin round on the Flowmaster American Thunder and the twin oval/squarish on the Borla system.

Can y’all help a brudda out?

factory tips are fake... mounted to the bumper.

you'll have to rip those off, take some measurements, and pic out a tip that you like, and get it mounted with a bend to properly shoot our straight.

take a look under the bumper and it should be straight forward on what you need to do........

Yeah, I really like the Borla quad tips too, just got tired of waiting for their system to come available and bought a different cat-back. Hoping someday they offer those tips separately, or someone else in the aftermarket offers something that’s a bolt-on type deal in place of the OEM ones. Seems like a lot of people would be all over it.

3 bolts hold the fake tip in place

1 bolt is 2 minutes to size up and remove

but there are  2 bolts on the Top of the tip that are unreachable unless you start taking apart some of the bumper.

if anyone has a easy solution to reach these let me know.  I don’t have a lift and was just crawling under there but couldn’t fine the ideal Path.

I hear it’s a 10-15 job with an air ratchet and wobble socket.

Damn, I couldn't fit my electric ratchet, did not even think about the air ratchet. It's much smaller. Any way I used a ratchet wrench, it was slow moving.
