Obligatory Welcome Post! 2017 1500 LT 4x4 Crew Cab

Morning Everyone! New to the Silverado and Truck game. Have had sports cars my whole life (I’m 44) but needed to get into something more practical and room for family. (Don’t hate, last 4 cars have been Mustangs ?). I am sure I will have lots of questions so I apologize for that

Details: 2017 Silverado LT 4x4 5.3 V8
Mileage: 40000

I already checked from reading that I need to get the brake recall done. Will be scheduling that soon

That being said, this was a repo my bank gave me a stupid deal on, Basically payoff Paid 29K. Below in the quotes is the build sheet I requested from GM Customer Service.  I read the manual and it stated that there would be yellow at filler if it was flex fuel capable but I didn’t see it. Using a site on the internet to decode the VIN it was telling me it was flex fuel capable. Having a previous car with tunes for E85 and 93 oct I know how important it is to not screw that up.  (EDIT    Buildsheet has an RPO Code for E10 Gasoline.   Guessing thats a NO on E85)

Next would be the question asked 1000 times but could find one for my year.. leveling kit and steps. Just want to level the front to the back. Nothing crazy. Has 275/55R20’s. Any suggestions in kits or get or stay away from and something I can do on the driveway would be a plus.     The Bilstein 5100s.. do those level as well or lift If i choose the different heights?    Do I need Upper Controll Arms with the 5100's like you do going above 2.5" with spacers?   In their ordering options to has some choices...  Front Height/ Rear Height and  Steering Dampner     It states the dampener is for 4wd with Single Dampener.. do I need that option if I go the 5100 route?

I’m sure I’ll have many more questions.. Thanks again for the welcome!

I put bilsteins all the way around and am very happy with it.  You shouldn't need 2.5" to level with the back.  I was able to get it level with my bilsteins, problem you will have owning a half ton is swapping the coil overs to the bilsteins. Maybe you can do this yourself but usually a local shop will swap them out for you and then you can go back to installing yourself.  You would be correct that your vehicle is not flexfuel.  You can also get all of your RPO codes inside your glove box.  I was thinking the code should have been FHO - E10 (non flex) or FHS - E85 (flex).

Welcome man, good looking rig.  The Bilstein's are much better than the Ranchos.  Night and day.  I have mine leveled up front and just did the lowest setting.  Good luck and enjoy the truck.  Lots of good folks here on the forum willing to help.

Hey, I bought just like yours. I too will be upgrading from the ranchos. Right now I'm looking for tires though that will fit under the rake I got going on now. 32f3b644157167395608220afa758559.jpg

That’s one of the best looking colors they put on these trucks, next to autumn bronze metallic. I’m biased though.

Welcome!

The search feature is great and will answer all your questions. It isn't year specific, anything from 2014-2018 will apply to your truck in this forum. The Bilstein's are a great shock upgrade but don't expect too much with them or you will be disappointed, they aren't the night and day difference some make it out to be. They ride better in some spots (bigger bumps) and rougher in others. They are a pre-load shock to get lift so the higher you go the rougher it will ride. Nothing more is needed. Start with this thread, tons of info out there as if you want to do it someone already has and you can find it be searching in the correct forum.

Think I am going to pull the trigger on the motofab 2.5 leveling kit.   From reading I should be fine with my Stock 275/55R20s

is the install doable in the driveway on a 4Wd?

Welcome. I pretty much have same truck in pepperdust. FYI, I’ve had It since new, not sure what kinda shape you front bumper is in, but I already have lot of paint chips from just driving on streets and highways. Have just been using a paint pen to do fill ins. Eventually will have the bumper repainted and put a 3m clear bra on it. If your bumper is in good shape, I would suggest some sort of protection or get a touch up pen ready.

Bumper is chipped pretty good.  Was a repo from a small farm town.  Sure it saw plenty of gravel roads

Welcome to this forum.  You will find lots of good information here!  I purchased the 1.5 Motofab after doing some initial research on this forum.   The 2.5 is too high, imo, and creates a higher risk of premature wear on other suspension components.   Before I installed my Motofab kit, I did even more research.  As a result of my additional reading, my kit is still in the box!   Your level kit will do nothing to improve the function or performance of your truck.  It will actually detract from fuel economy (minor)  and will cause your truck to squat with a small load.  Bilstein shocks  or a 1"- 1>5" spacer combined with a little larger tire size is an ideal compromise between looks and function.  (again, imo)
