Guess he is 23 or so since he didn’t deny it. I just turned 23 by the way, just fortunate enough to be raised by a level headed family. Karma is a bit** he will find that out eventually.

No, 61% older actually, just don't respond to poorly written posts.  I hope you're right about Karma, seeing as how I DO leave a car length for every 10 mph, not touching the phone, etc, and have a perfect record in that time frame (not even a parking ticket), so karma means that I'll evade some dumbass slamming into me due to my constantly paying it forward.  So, honestly, I appreciate your well wishes.?

Amazing how the gist of this thread is that "accidents" are 1) commonplace, and 2) acceptable.  Neither are true.

I guess for your sake don't ever drive in AL, MD, NC, VA, or Washington D.C...They are all contributory negligence states where if the defendant can provide any evidence that you were even 0.01% at fault you get nothing...Driving 80 mph would be enough...You are probably the reason for tort reforms in so many states and you are probably the reason so many slip-and-fall ambulance chasing lawyers have a job...Have you ever sneezed while driving? Bet you took your eyes off the road when you did it...throwing rocks in glass houses...

That's why I don't drive 80.  That does exceed the speed limit.  My vehicles are fully inspected, I hug the right lane unless passing (it IS illegale to travel in the left lane in many states unless overtaking a vehicle).  The sneeze is all the more reason to leave a safe following distance of the 6.5 car lengths I would leave when traveling through VA on I95; good thing I can count on one hand the amount of times a year I sneeze.  The eye closure of a few hundredths of a second are more than outweighed by ample safety cushion of travel space.  I do appreciate the attempt, though.

Soooooo, lets get back to the main topic.

Watch out everyone...this guy keeps a running annual tally of his sneezes (which is apparently less than 5 times per year) You can stop pretending, everyone that drives thinks they are the best driver and everyone else isn't...don't feel bad ace...

Oh I'm not the best driver, never said I was; I don't however drive recklessly putting others in harm's way, so you can stop justifying dangerous behavior.  I am, however, a professional driver, and as such have too much to lose by making poor and horrible decisions on the road, especially if my 4 month old is traveling with me.

Insurance of any wort isn't supposed to be a safety net and shouldn't be relied on as a perpetual crutch or extra bank account; it realistically should be used only in extreme case of emergency (like storm damage), not as a justification for dangerous driving behavior.  Insurance rates go up after an accident or claim, so why should I have to pay for someone else's stupidity?  That is no different that the other person stealing money from me, money that I spent time working hard for, time I'll never get back; logic then dictates that the stupid other person stole parts of my life that I'll never get back (time = money), and that is egregious.  Relying on "insurance" to cover the cost and claiming that is enough of a lesson learned is just as asinine, as the rest of us who pay insurance end up subsidizing that stupidity.  I guarantee Jeep girl learned nothing from this incident and will continue to act recklessly, as she has no real skin in the game.  I've seen far too many repeat offenders in my lines of work.  Rear end me in my other truck at even 10 mph, and I'm looking at an immediate basal skull fracture, and that won't end well for anyone involved.

I get the sense that my attitude towards punishing stupidity is striking such a nerve because many members realize that the way they drive could easily lead to them causing an accident?  Slow it down, defensively drive, and you'll be part of the solution rather than a cause of the problem.  Not hard, folks.

I personally do want to know the end result of the damage to the OPs truck, as there's so many bad drivers who could easily put any one of us in the same position.

I was just looking at the pics of the OP's smashed truck. Taillights don't look stock. Are they blacked out?

Also the seat on the bike in the back of the truck is blocking the third brake light.

If you had to hit your brakes, she probably didn't see your brake lights very well. You did say you slowed to 50 but never said if you hit your brakes.

Just throwing that out there.

They are smoked.  And they are LED tail lights which shine brighter through the smoked lenses than a regular halogen bulb.

The bike seat is not blocking the third brake light... lol

So now its my fault that I didn't hit my brakes to slow down and that's why she ran into me?

Was trying to be nice here, but your comments are slowly becoming ridiculous.

Were you the one who originally asked about the frame? Glad you asked.

The adjuster said to replace it... so new frame on order.  Well, on order once the GM union workers are off strike...

No pictures from underneath, but I may could get some.

I never said it was your fault  Remember, I'm not the one who got ass ended. You did.

Fix it and move along .

If you post something like this on here you need a little thicker skin.

With all these emotional reactions, you’d think everyone in here was the recent victim of being rear ended. Two of the three times I’ve been rear ended, the drivers were on their phones texting and weren’t paying attention and the third was an illegal alien, could barely speak English, had no insurance and said her back was Hurting and she just wanted to keep going. It’s going to happen and that’s punishment enough for not paying attention, so really, there’s absolutely NO reason to sue anyone unless you’re injured and missing work, then you can get something but NOT if you’re not injured, that’s just a sickness. There’s so much hate in the world as well as mentally sick people that shouldn’t be driving at all especially trying to sue anyone that bumps into you. PeAcE OuT [emoji3577]

This thread started out good but turned bad real quick.  You holier than thou types are a bunch of morons.  She hit the guy, she pays big.  That's how lessons are learned.
