bulldog77 Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 I just purchased a 2016 GMC Sierra and would like to know how to decode GM vin numbers to determine specifically the rear end ratio in this truck. Also is there a website where I might be able to find an original sticker or a list of installed options. Thank you for any help.

goeb34 Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 I went to the GMC website and chatted with an advisor and got my build sheet in under 10 minutes 2
CamGTP Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 The RPO codes are in the upper glove box. Then find the RPO code for the gears and that will tell you. https://d354nuoz4t18d4.cloudfront.net/151587b49e7f6970ff59f6f339b177de/images/custom/rpoCodes.pdf GU6 is 3.42's GU5 is 3.23's GT4 is 3.73's. Those are most common gear ratio's on a half ton.
wforrest08 Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 Unfortunately socialmedia won’t provide this service anymore. Couple guys tried here not to long ago they just send back a generic email stating they don’t. If the guy at the parts counter at your local GM stealership is cool they can print a copy of the build sheet out for you. Also the sales department can order a copy of the window sticker for a cost. Otherwise you can buy a replacement window sticker from a site like this. https://monroneylabels.com/
jwhjr Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 Got mine through social media 2 months ago, so they were at least doing it as of then. Still worth a shot.
mikeyk101 Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 I just went to the Chevrolet web site within the last month and did an on line chat. There was an option to save the chat via email. I asked them to provide me the build info on my 2016 and they did it. By saving a copy of the chat, the build info was then in my email inbox.
jumpinjoe Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 There's also a pretty good resource for this kind of info located at (WWW.decodethis.com). You get basic info for free and more detailed stuff for a small fee. Check it out .......... it ain't bad. Regards, Joe
