Exhaust bolts

I would suggest doing it at say 100k miles, around when you would do the spark plugs.  It won't be that much money, and certainly a lot easier and faster to do if they aren't broken than if one or more have.

When I bought my truck, a bunch of the bolts were broken off (3 on each side).  I managed to get out all the broken ones in the middle of the heads, and bought Dorman exhaust manifold clamps for the end ones that I couldn't get out  and new 10.9 flange head bolts for the rest, and since then, the only problem I've had with them is one of the clamping bolts came loose and I got a loud exhaust tick happening (so far, put on about 100k km on the truck since then).  Put on a jam nut and it shouldn't happen again.

The question is do the GEN-V motors have the same garbage exhaust manifold bolts that were used in the GEN-III and GEN-IV motors.  If so, replace them.

I haven't researched it yet, but if they do I will be swapping to better bolts once the warranty is up.  My last truck had the L92 - previous owner had to pull the head on one side to have a couple extracted and I did the other side with new bolts and one of the fix-it solutions for a broken one.  Before than I had a truck with the LM7 and had several broken bolts.

So if these are garbage, it is very wise to replace before failure.

Anyone know what part number Dorman exhaust manifold end clamps would fit for a 2015 Suburban? I’ve tried searching online, without any luck.

best place would be dormanproducts.com   I think they also have a chat feature, but can't confirm as site is down for maintenance right now.

I would if your already in there doing plugs or something. They are garbage studs. I had to change one that broke on my 2015 HD in 2018 for a commercial safety, so there isn't much of a longevity factor there. Truck only had 70,000km or 45,000mi at the time.
