Cooper discover AT3 XLT?

My coopers are made in the USA. Main reason I went with them over the Taiwan Falkens.

That’s great but I’ve seen other members bring up that theirs were not. Early 80’s-90’s, I grew up with my fathers friend owning a Cooper tire store, my brother had them on two of his vehicles, complained about them a lot about crappy workmanship and one blowout that almost ended up bad. Today’s coopers are in my opinion better tires, just not one of the best. I do believe they’ve come up in quality and even though they’re made (some) over seas, what isn’t made overseas? This world we live in now has become so disposable and at higher costs all for the sake of profit over health/safety

Yea cooper has come a long way but I have had great success with them in the past. Hope they hold up in wet weather over time. Shouldn't be a prob.

One thing I thing I think we get too concerned about is siping. Think we had great wet weather tires before hand. Only thing thats reaally changed besides design is the compound the tires are made of. Which would make siping a crutch to a defective build. At least thats how I think it...

At any rate when I spend a grand+ in tires I will not tolerate any: wobble, slip on wet or dry pavement, or out of round issues associated with todays big name brands. Thats total bs and seems to be todays standard that gets "okayed"

You’re absolutely correct! It’s the chemicals tires are made of. Years ago, I used to date a woman that formulated chemicals for tire companies, she was paid over a million annually, it’s definitely about the compound chemicals but siping is required for water exiting too. I guarantee you that nowadays tires are great until you get closer to 20k miles, my siping disappearing caused serious slipping, scared me a couple times with hydroplaning. They definitely lost their traction even in dry road conditions even with lots of tread left.

Lol, those were my “very” wild years, I was young and didn’t want marriage. She’s married now, I’ve moved on to bigger and better things [emoji6]

As much as I want to hear more about your ex....

I have experience with the previous version of Cooper Discoverers on my old truck- I had over 50,000 miles on those tires when I upgraded to my current truck. It felt sure footed in wet and snow until the day I watched it drive away. Still had lots of tread left.

Now I have around 10k on my new set of Discoverer AT3's and I can say I am more than happy with the performance. I haven't personally tested Falken, but I'm so happy with Coopers, no need to try anything else.

Solid review man! I really appreciate it. Sounds like these are some good tires to go with.

Ive got a ton of awesome stories about my ex’s lol but I’ll never talk ha!

’ve heard nothing but excellent reviews on these XLT tires, heard they’re much more durable now than ever before which puts their light AT tires up the pedestal along with even BFG and Michelin’s. You guys are making me want to get a set too but to late lol. In all honesty, I’ll be looking into a set of these if my KO2’s take poop! It seems like what was once good is now ok and what was once average has moved up in the Cooper Tire World.

Here are the specs for the 285/60/20 Cooper AT3’s XLT

a2ee7e6ea877a9c96944f0938a5fa9ec.plist

285/60/20 KO2’s

7adeca4bfbd95ce22a4478f028de0af3.plist

Crap! I should’ve at least given the Cooper a shot, they’re lighter too which plays a big roll in acceleration and braking as well as a bit of ride quality. They’re slightly taller too. My 285/60/20’s claim to be 33.5” tires, NOT! I measured them at 45 psi and they’re 32.5”, not 33.5”, lost one inch lol

Still waiting to mount mine, originally purchased them for my truck that I just traded in. I have the 295/60/20 and they’re only 61lbs and 34” tall. Considering selling them and going with an XL tire to not kill the ride which is why I got this new truck. I will say, they look a heck of a lot better in person. If anyone is in the Austin, TX or surrounding area, I’d make a helluva deal on these tires if anyone is interested.
