Either there was a minor casting defect in the rotor from the factory and it took 60,000+ miles of wear to make it surface as the rotor got thinner. Or something got picked up and it fused to the rotor by the heat from braking. Likely the first one in my eyes.
GM will do nothing for you. It's a 6 year old vehicle and brakes are not covered on any sort of warranty at this time. I've worked in the repair industry as well as selling parts for over 15 years now. Even the highest end factory rotors or aftermarket rotors can have defects that come to light over a period of time.
Buy yourself some new rotors/pads and all will be good. If you don't go back with GM parts I suggest new Platinum Rotors and Adaptive One pads from Napa. Never had any real issues running their parts.
Looking at trading in my current ride a 2020 Trailboss with the 6.2L for an 2026 AT4 with the 3.0 Duramax.
From what I heard that the 3.0 Duramax is a very good engine.
Just wondering from others who have similar trucks with this engine - pro's and con's.

Mines a 2/4 drop.
Gold Bowtie is nice. Love red trucks. Especially SCSB units.
Nice thing about a knuckle drop is a no muss no fuss alignment without special A arms and no stress on the half shafts.
So, I take it that one one has seen this before? Especially on the stock rotors?
Is this a defect I should pursue with GM?
I would love some thoughts or feedback.

I like the rake, too, but I'm old. That gold bowtie is a nice touch. I'm also team no stickers, but I'd probably be too lazy to take them off myself.
Now, how big of a turbo can we put on that thing?
