I am missing sports, never realized how bad normal TV has gotten.

I was so excited to see racing, any kind, but especially NASCAR, always means spring is close.

Yes, I know very trivial in the state the world is in right now, but I would watch anything with out fans being present.

This is why paying attention in math class during high school is important. That's when we learn about statistics and how the models must change daily to reflect peoples actions. If I had a nickel for every time one of my students asked me when we'd use this in real life I'd have my own private island by now.

And still not a single donated ventilator needed in the state of New York. Not one. But lets make sure we have 50k made a month by auto companies that wont do ****** in these situations (with a real bad virus like SARS or worse - MERS). Viral pneumonias require high inverse ratios and consistent positive end expiratory pressures - these rinky ****** vents wont cut it if we actually want to save the patients. We put flu cases on ECMO when the vents dont do enough. So many lies...

How do you draw a 1% MR from data that you claim is invalid?

The comparison SIR was in propagation rates not death rate.

Some things should not need explanation.

When you talk about the severity of a pandemic, you must consider the magnitude in life-years. An Italian who dies at 80 when the life expectancy is 82 has lost 2 life years. H1N1 shifted greatly to the UNDER 65 populous (apparently, 1/3rd of those over 60 had some immunity from years ago), and thus lost many times more life-years than this ever possibly can. PLEASE look up the H1N1 novel flu pandemic of 2009. There is so much information there you need to educate yourself with. The numbers you see now mean nothing without the context of how many are truely affected, and we cant possibly know that until its over...

Let’s not start any pissing contests going. This isn’t over yet I hate for it to get shut down. Some people are pretty dramatic in expressing them selves. One thing is certain we’ll all know before too long how this is going to shake out. Sure they’re tripping over themselves over adjusting the numbers down. There’s mitigating factors that could have adjusting the numbers ether way. I suspect just like mask situation. They hit us with high numbers to make us tow the line. Sacrificing some credibility. So let them pat us on the back for doing a good job. Even as we were tripping over our selfs at grocery stores buying toilet paper. While we were 6ft apart.[emoji2957]

If there’s only one reason to call CNN and MSNBC out for miss information that could harm people. Is there stand against hydroxychlorquine simply because Trump endorses it. Putting people at risk who have the misfortune of relying just on them for news. Shameful.

Ah, I see the difference now. You prorate life. I count the life of one a hundred the same as the one just born of equal value.

If you prorate you might well be correct in terms of 'life years'.

I guess most of the world shares the prorated life paradigm. Well sort of. They look at your cost vs your productivity in $$$$. Micky "D"s loves kids and those too old to find work that pays an HONEST wage.

How do you suppose this works out if we not only prorate life but assign a $$$$ value based on cost v productivity? Maybe we can assign ventilators based on this. Ya know, CEO's, Presidents, Scientist we try to save. Old people, immigrants, those of low IQ we let fend for themselves.

Absurd you say? Well isn't that what you do when you value based on "life years"? Or maybe you didn't say absurd.
