That seems a little premature.

Avoiding big crowds, unnecessary social outings & washings hands frequently & PROPERLY seems like the only rational things to do right now.

Unsubscribe to the panic, let common sense prevail. Take some time off if you can, watch the boob tube & read some books.

Perspective is important; around 300,000 Americans die prematurely each year due to obesity. Not hardly a whisper about that sad statistic.

The 16 you are referring to have been diagnosed with covid 19, slightly more than a cold. Not sure if any of them were even children. Most are in the Lawrence and Kansas City area.

Everything but pretty much work and going to most stores is shut down here in MN.

Schools closed til the end of March at the minimum, college's and all that are strictly online only. Government buildings and county building shut down. All public places like libraries and the Mall of America are closed, all restaurants are closed to the public except curbside pickup and deliveries.

You should phrase your topic to include the word Coronavirus or Covid-19.  You may attract comments that make the current response to this pandemic appear a little more appropriate. There is also a thread on this forum called "Cornovirus" that was started by another member upset by the response to this virus.  It is right to question. With proper information, you will find that arguments for an aggressive response to this pandemic make sense.  Think of it as being proactive instead of reactive. However, "our" initial cautious response has allowed us to become more reactive than we should have been at this point.   I am confident (hopeful) that a major lesson learned for the future will be to do more, sooner.

More questioning than upset. I always lived a little outside the lines. Being self employed I don’t take things on face value. Especially since there’s been one before. We’ll see. This one’s always the (worst one ever).

Whether the response is appropriate or not, only time will tell. I have my early guess.

I now get to figure out how to watch two children and still hold down a job. I don't have 2.5 months of sick time to use.

I just hope they open up child care sooner than June.

It is ok to be upset - we all are.   These are very tough times for most people.  I am very impressed with how considerate and understanding most people are being to one another.  I do not envy the people having to make these tough decisions and will respect /trust them for doing their "homework".  Looking for historical  examples of how other pandemics or crises were handled or citing  statistics of more deadly behaviours/illnesses do not bring comfort to those struggling with current hardships.  I would like to see these threads as supportive. Sharing new experiences can also be helpful.    Yesterday I was impressed by a large and a small business in our city.  Our local Costco has adopted the 50 in 50 out format.  Personally, I hope it stays!  After my trip to Costco, I stopped at my local gas bar to buy my weekly lottery ticket.  I complimented the man behind the counter on their social distancing setup.  He returned my compliment with a reminder to keep to essential trips from my home.  I embarrassed myself and realized how inconsiderate my behavior would have appeared.  The learning curve is fast and steep!

I didn’t know the reg flu was so bad. I will get the flu shot next year. And be more diligent like when pumping gas and sanitize my hands after. I’m working on using my glasses handle to scratch my face. Challenging while driving.

I agree with annual flu shots, even more now that I'm a senior.  A friend of mine keeps Q-tips handy for those times when you don't want to touch your face. I do the same as you with my glasses. Sanitizer after filling up is a great reminder!.
