Considering new High Country...questions!

Hey fellas!

I'm currently in a '19 Sierra 1500 and towing a 33' travel trailer.  Previous to that I had a '18 Silverado 2500 that had an incredibly annoying vibration.  After 14 tires (Duratracs, Terra Grapplers, and BFG's) and a new set of wheels (mostly at my expense) I got sick of it and traded it in for the Sierra.  Spoiler alert:  I don't think it was the tires.  The dealership wouldn't take any responsibility since I had replaced the stock tires on my own.

I'm ready to come back to an HD after getting blown all over the highway in windy conditions with a long camper.  I'm undecided between a '20 High Country Duramax or a '19 or '20 Ram 2500 Laramie Cummins.  My concern is GM's quality after my last vibration issue.  Even my current Sierra 1500 has a bunch of minor vibrations and squeaks in the cabin that started around 5000 miles.

For those of you that have a '20 GM 2500, how is the overall quality?  Especially the ride quality.  I've had 2 HD trucks and am not concerned with the rougher ride of the HD but I can't deal with vibrations and other noises that arise from poor build quality.  Things like tire/wheel vibrations, door rattling when driving down the highway, squeaky center console when going over bumps of all sizes are all things that I've experienced with my last 2 GM trucks.  I'm hoping they've fixed these issues but am looking for real-world experiences.

Thanks! ?

I have 2020 2500 Denali, with about 2500 miles. so far, everything is great, and the build quality is even better than my previous tundra. But at 2500 miles, it's too soon to know.

The 2008 Silverado 2500HD I owned prior to this truck was superb.  It was strong and quiet almost like the cab was carved out of a solid block of steel.  It had none of the traits you mentioned.  My new LTZ 2500HD is just as good as the 08.  Fit, finish and quality is first rate.  The power from the L5P and 10 speed transmission are flawless.  Not much more to say. I can see me owning this truck for some years to come.

I love mine so far- I traded from a 2019 1500 Z71 LTZ also.

As you know, the difference while towing is incredible. I tow a 37’ camper ,8000#, with my gas 6.6.  My truck has been rattle free.  Every time I think I have a rattle it turns out to be something I stored somewhere, lol. It’s quiet enough inside that if I put my sunglasses on the dash I can here the little nose pieces rattling around. Drove me nuts until I figured it out.
The ride is really well sorted out too. You can tell GM spent more time with the power train engineering than anything else. I like the ride better than my 1500  - a little firmer (I even have the heavy duty front suspension) but WAY better controlled body motions.

I am very happy with my switch- the ONLY negative is a drop in fuel mileage, but I knew that going in. The 36 gallon tank makes it worth it.

Hope that helps.

I have all of 400 miles on mine.  It's great, it better be!  :)

I test drove a truck on the lot. After that I was totally in lust! I ordered a loaded High Country 2500 HD. Currently at 4700 miles. Fit and finish is second to none. The 3.42's and that 10 Speed transmission provides smooth ample power and surprisingly good MPG. The 6.6 Duramax is a beast. But it can be an easy going highway cruise also. Recent 400 mile interstate trip empty showed 23.8 MPG at 75 mph or so. I wanted the 11,300 GVWR option which gives me 3044 lbs. of Payload.

I can do quite a lot with this truck. Plan on towing a 30' Airstream. That towing camera system is a great towing and hitching aid. Really like the heads up display.

If I had to say a negative thing about it would be that I can't find a home exhaust tip for it!

Jump on one of these you will not regret it!

24,000 on mine so far and it has been flawless.  Ride is hands down smoother and quieter than my 2017.  The 10speed with the Duramax has been flawless, smooth and seamless.  You won't be disappointed.

Cant talk about the towing yet, my camper has been stuck at the factory for warranty service since February.

The 3500HD gas LT is smooth as butter.

You definitely need an HD something with that 33' trailer!

I passed on several 15-18 HD trucks with super low miles because of vibrarions in test drive.  I assumed the low mileage returns were just like yours lol.  Incredibly embarrassing and confusing for GM
