I have a 2020 Sierra HD AT4 3500 SRW Duramax built 1/29/20.  It does not have active aero shutters in front of radiator - looks like it has the holes for each shutter, but no shutter.  Didn't really think about it until watching a YouTube duramax channel with a grille off a 2020 and there were active aero shutters.  I have no codes so I wonder if this was intentional from factory?

Do others have (or not) these active aero shutters shutters on their 2020 L5Ps?

Diesels don't have the shutters, gasoline engines only.

Here is the video I saw.  This is a 2020 duramax...

From GM: " In addition to the Silverado HD’s larger dimensions and distinctive trim personalities, 2500 and 3500 SRW models are available with active aero shutters for improved efficiency and a taller, more dominant hood line that asserts the trucks’ strength and character."

I don't know about the active shutters, but I have seen his videos before.  I could not imagine paying $80k+ (Canadian) for a truck and then ripping it apart like he does...gives me nightmares.

Mine has the shutters, 2020 GMC AT4 with a Duramax, you can see them behind the grille. I had to extract a extra push pin fastener from mine, also found one in the hood scoop drain, someone must of felt generous on the assembly line that day. That or my truck is falling apart....

My 2020 AT4HD 2500 Duramax has active shutters.

I am wondering if this is a 2500 vs 3500 thing...

That's a conundrum  for sure.  I can't imagine why engineers would put shutters in front of that giant charge air cooler and radiator.  As I stated above, my 2020 LTZ 2500HD does not have shutters.  I can see where the shutters would fit into the front grill work for gasoline powered trucks but I didn't think any diesels had them.   It will be interesting to find out what the thinking is on them.

My 2500 Denali L5P does not have them either. Tied to 5th wheel tow package maybe?

I don't have 5th wheel, but snow-plow and towing as part of 3500.  I am wondering if people with no shutters have an option like snow plow prep or something else?  Weird that there are 2500s with / without.  My initial thesis was 2500 and them and 3500s didn't.

What options do people have with and without shutters?

I don't see them on my 3500 DRW...L5P Denali with 5th wheel package.

I have a 2500 AT4 crew cab, 6’9” bed with the 5th wheel package, not sure about snow plow prep, I would have to check the window sticker.

This is strange...Those that have them - Are they in the top, lower (below bumper) or both sections of the grill?

I know for the 1500s, options like trailboss/AT4, snow plow prep, max trailering,.... will play into if you will have shutters. It is probably an option that you have on your truck that does not allow you to have them.

ill go back to my side now. lol

    • Because that is IDIOTIC, much like this question. They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park! Hundreds of thousands of brands and models have been built and sent to the crusher while this one keeps on going!   https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   I've got a whole fleet of cars, motorcycles, and a truck close to this age for summer and winter. No one could pay me enough to buy anything built this century. I have zero use for any it.
    • Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
    • Bringing this thread back on topic. I just noticed the incredible lack of bright chrome across the entire new lineup. Even the Denali has tinted the brightwork in the grille and has none elsewhere. None of them have chrome bumpers. As far as I can tell there aren't even chrome mirror caps. I'm curious if this also happens out back? Are there no chrome rear bumpers either? This is quite the departure for GMC.
