Finally located a 2020 SLT 4x4 Crew Cab in the color and configuration I want.  Premium Plus, Sun Roof, Dark Sky, 3.0L Diesel, X31.  Having a go around with the sales mgr. regarding a dealer discount.  I'm seeing nearby dealer discounts in the 4--4.5% range in addition to the GM $6k incentive.  However, the only truck that meets my desired combo of color and options is at a dealer who isn't budging much.  On a positive note, this truck is in-transit and dealer has promised NO add-ons/packs such as tinting, nitrogen, pinstripe, etc.  Here's the deal as of this morning.  Your comments are welcome as to the merits of this deaL

MSRP:                    $63,275

GM Discount         -  6,000

Dealer Discount   -      830 (1.3% + or -)

Tax/tag/etc          +     555

Out the Door        $57,000

I found one with an MSRP of $63,275 going for $50,000. It's in Louisiana.... any chance it's similar to the one you're looking at?

I'd expect around $10k to $12k off of it... not $6k.

If its what you want, get it. They seem to be hard to find. Most of what i was looking at were all in transit. Then a load came in, i drove over, they had a 6.2 in the color i wanted but didnt have a sunroof. I took it anyway. The others have sold. Oh and 50000's cheap! In south florida  u wont find them for that!

Mine had a sticker price of 59k and the sales price ended up being a little over 46k before I was done.  Mine is a premium plus, no sunroof and 5.3.  I don’t think that deal sounds all that hot.....but if it’s what you want and supply is limited so it may be your only option.

To me it is not always about the deal. I have friends that would buy something they don't really want just because it is a good deal. If you have been looking around and finally find what you want and can afford a bit more then I say go for it and enjoy the truck you want. I would pay extra just based on that alone.

best i've been able to talk dealers down to is $44k on an RST with z71, all star, and convenience 2, stickered around 52-53k. that's the 5k rebate, their 'dealer price' and supplier.

Yikes, these questions will never go away.

Each market will have different prices, trade in values, and so on. This is becoming like asking if you have $250,000.00 for a house in Texas, can you get the same house in Seattle, NO!

Dealers do not have a lot of inventory, so why would they give things away, if you do not purchase the truck, someone else will, dealership will not close it's doors if you walk.

As mentioned above, buy it if you like it, don't let us make your buying decision for you, because if it gets away, you can not drive a regret.

If you don't need a new truck right now, I'd hold off. They are all but giving it to you for MSRP. You'll be very upside down, more so than usual.

I was actually told once by a GM Executive that they base the price on what the "Market Will Bear". So more affluent areas of the country will pay more.

I get your drift. However this is a common topic on every owner forum I’ve participated in. Nobody’s forcing you to participate. I’ve bought 17 cars/SUV's since 2000 so it’s not my first rodeo. This will be my first truck (bucket list item) so thoughtful/helpful input is appreciated.

How do you feel about like the deal? Is it completive for your area?

I think there is room for negotiating, will they show the invoice so you can really see what they have offered is a good deal or not? Have you dealt with them in the past?

if you cant find another with what you want than its not matter of good or bad it becomes" the only deal"......it depends on what you willing to do...  accept it, wait it out, or buy another at better price sacrificing some options.....

i had same situation happen and chose to sacrifice a few options.....they wanted full MSRP and i wasnt willing to do that....for any vehicle....and its just a truck i can live without a few things, never been super picky on vehicles......do i wish now i paid an extra 8k for few options that probably are worth 2k?...not yet i dont....but if you feel your kick yourself in butt dtl maybe it is a good deal.....or again the only deal.....

seems more trucks have trickled in lately but still there are far more buyers....inventory wont be normal til 2021s.

Yeah, I know in my heart of hearts it’s not a good deal. But it’s the only one within 500 miles that’s exactly what I want. And it’s one of only a few 3.0L diesels.  Believe me, I made a detailed offer but they wouldn’t budge.  Five dealers within 100 miles of here. Two offer 5% dealer discount but have no diesels, two don’t seem to be interested in dealer discount or in being competitive. The 5th is unknown. Had a 2011 Yukon Denali in another locale but never dealt with this local dealer. Mostly I’m just venting but $3k is nothing to sneeze at. That buys a tri-fold tonneau and some other mods. And experience tells me that I’ll eventually find the deal I want but will most likely need to compromise on color, options etc. haven’t yet explored the idea of a swap between dealers but supply is somewhat limited. And so on........  the quest shall continue.

    • Took me FIFTEEN MINUTES to find this. Isn't that a problem? On the mainstream media I can INSTANTLY find 100 articles bashing President Trump ... but when it comes to TRUTH in American corporate news & search engines, it's carefully filtered to support ONE SIDE. A Republic cannot survive like this! Incredible! Even all the AI searchers out there failed as well! ChatGPT said it needed more details on the video that I provided a DIRECT LINK to! I thought AI was the be-all, end-all?? I had to dig it up myself. This should be FRONT PAGE NEWS!!! 🤬   Here's the statement directly from our President:     Glenn Beck's reporting on the operation:   https://glennbeck.com/watch/videos/trump-just-revealed-a-massive-military-secret-that-lowered-gas-prices   In case that link doesn't work, here's the YouTube link:
    • More is cylinder deactivation. Kia-Hyundai Ive had 4. The warranty is the same 10 years 100K miles. My grandson drives the first one 05 Elantra GT. My wife drives the second one 2011 Genesis. The Genesis still performs as new and looks great. The Elantra looks rough. He’s not kind to it. The third was a Genesis coup. The fourth was a Santa Fe. Those were my daily drivers. I don’t keep them long. Kia is the same as Hyundai with the same warranty. I looked at the K-4 today. Too small, otherwise pretty good buy. Most of Hyundai and Kia’s have a performance upgrade.
    • Thanks for the point of reference
    • Great question. Answer....depends. One the volume of the crankcase, the driver that will actually be using the vehicle and the amount it uses plus the distance expected for that next trip. Couple of for instances:   Wife is going to drive Dizzy to Moline and back plus a bit around town so say 500 miles on the day. I know from years with that SUV that around town and local rural it uses about a quart in 1250 miles. But on the Interstate and her at the wheel without her anchor nagging her she'll push it and it will drop a quart in about 800 miles. Hence, around town I wait to somewhere between a quarter down to a quart down. On her trip I'd top it if it was down a few ounces and hope for the best.    Have I overfilled one? You mean by adding before it needs a full quart I assume. No, not once after finding the true fill mark.  I know the dipsticks of everything I drive and add what it needs. I learn this by doing the first oil change a quart low. Run the motor for a few minutes. Let it sit over night. Check and mark. Then add half a cup at a time making note of the place on the stick. I add through the dipstick tube with a barbeque basting bottle. Give it a few minutes to drain down and check again.    A vehicle like Dizzy that uses this much oil will take a few quarts between 3K changes. I keep one in the vehicle with the bottle and a bag. (Mindful of it's fullness) Not a big deal and never makes a mess of it. There is no such thing as "multiple quarts' in my shop for any specific oil. There will be a maximum however of the number of different oils used over the fleet.     Dizzy holds a nominal 5 quarts. So the first fill was indeed over as it actually took 4.75. My vehicles are fit with Valvomax valves so I can meter an ounce on the drain if need be. Found her mark first crack at it. Never to be repeated.    Pepper uses none between changes so I don't keep a quart in that one. Straight up 6 quarts put her dead on the full line. Check it ever fuel stop. They will surprise you when they start using.    Raven holds 3 liters or 5.44 ounces over three quarts. I add 3 quarts and 6 ounces. That gives me 5 oil changes on my orphan quart.    Lawnmower holds about 3/5 of a quart. I don't over fill it to prevent an orphan. So yea, depends.
    • 185k on original 6.2L engine and 10 speed. 6" lift with 35" tires. Changed oil (Mobil 1 synthetic) when truck told me to. Original tranny with original fluid and no service or flush done. All highway miles. A/C compressor replaced at 155k. Oil cooler line replaced at 180k. Still daily driver. Love this truck.   This is my 3rd 6.2L vehicle (2008 Yukon Denali / 2018 Cadillac Escalade) with over 150k miles and no issues. Denali had broken motor mount at 100k.
