Ah, the good ol' TBSS...

I thoroughly enjoyed spanking the crap outta one a couple weeks ago on the interstate.  He tried to keep up bless him....

It was like the little engine that could....only it couldn't! ?

I don't know if he had any engine work but I know for sure he had a gutted exhaust (or open headers) because that thing was obnoxiously loud.  We were done playing and I let off so the wife would quit her bitchin, and an old man in a Vette came outta nowhere and blew my doors off.  I think the loud TBSS peaked his interest.

Good times!

LOL, yes, the new 6.2L along with the 10 spd make these T1 trucks pretty quick. Especially since Gm really doesn't have them set up for performance like Ford has in the Craptor and the Limited F-150.

Also, what hindered the TBSS was the 4 spd tranny. GM screwed up by not putting in the tremec 6 spd that you could get in the SSR trucks. For the year in 06-09 they were pretty quick though. And with the mods I had,  I truly loved hauling the family in a corvette SUV and spanking 4.6L Rustangs all day long.  My only regret was not putting a different muffler on it, the Magnaflow droned terrible at highway speeds.  But I did have 4 TV's in it to muffle out the sound of the exhaust...LOL!!  (Alpine 8 inch head unit, 2 alpine 7 inch headrests, and 1 alpine 10 inch overhead DVD player.) It was sweet going down the road at night watching the cars slow down to see all the TVs going.)  Those were great times!!

I see you changed avatar from the Silverado?

I did, needed a change, drove my C7 from NJ to Austin TX, stopped at Gas Monkey Garage on the way through. Just thought it was a cool picture.

I’ve had  12 or 14 wides on the last 3 Chevys. Never once got a rock chip on side of truck. I’ve gotten a small one on passenger tow mirror, but nothing more.

If you say so guy.  I'm just saying I've seen it too many times.  You had those tires with no mudguards?  Hard to believe but whatever.  I'm not knocking his set up but those tires with no mudguards is a recipe for disaster on the paint.  Especially with today's paint.   It is what it is.   I know he won't be happy when he starts getting dings and chips. Hey, if he doesn't get any then great.  Then so be it.  Anyway, it's all good bud ?

I have the mudguards on current 2020, but with x14s they’re useless. On my 2017 I took them off and had x14s and after 50k miles only had the one chip on tow mirror. I think that coating

GM started using on the lower half actually helps. It’s weird cause you can literally press into it with your fingernail and it’ll dent. I’m guessing it’s just soft enough to make the rocks bounce off?

Has anyone else purchased these? I have the sharp truck caps, but was considering changing

Im just curious as to why? I could see wanting a smooth shaved look but seems like replacing a functional piece of plastic with a plastic cap. Truck looks good and your choice of course but maybe paint them to match the body?  Ive always considered buying the stock mudguards for behind the tires but was always worried that they were stiff and could catch or bottom out on something. Those small ones on the front of the rear tires i thought were ok but ive always had the factory trim on the wheel wells and they didnt stand out as bad. Just an opinion but either way the truck looks good man

    • From what I gather, you have a 2.7 Diesel  You cannot use Chevron gas in it.  Howes has a diesel add-in and it states it cleans injectors.  Me personally, wouldn't bother with it.  If it's not broke, don't fix it.     Just my two cents worth.
    • Looking up on the web you can the information that would seem obvious. You asked engine components to do more. You get more wear. The answer is they can last just as long but required more maintenance. Apparently having to change lifters, cam and associated components are maintenance or repairs. In some research the normal life span of valve train components are 80-100 miles with 3-5K miles oil change. So the next logical conclusion would be cost per mile. I use that analogy with my wife all the time with vehicles. My Odyssey is approaching 170K. The cost per mile will go up at 200K with maintenance. Looking at a low cost car. A K-4 with a 10-10 warranty. Selling my Ridgeline that’s about to hit the same maintenance milestone. My argument becomes not only I get worry free driving. But at no cost increases. Because I take the money from my Ridgeline and maintenance savings and other potential savings. I’m driving for free. So tying it with a bow. It makes you wonder. Is this a grand conspiracy by the auto makers? Raise the potential maintenance high enough. Buyers by extended warranty to 100K miles. Do the minimum maintenance required. Trade in at the warranty end. How long should they last? That question is what keeps people up at night. The answer is much more complicated than it used to be.
    • Could you cite your source on this?  I cannot find any reference to the US secretly taking the oil.  I find references that the US helped oil tankers move through the Strait of Hormuz, but nothing about what you're stating.
    • Same thought, also the everything doesn't have the details real photos do (talking about the noise in the photo)
    • Since the media YOU and your buddies are programmed to watch failed to mention this, I'll fill you in.   Trump admitted today that we've grabbed 150 MILLION barrels of oil from the Iranian tankers locked in the Strait by our Navy. We turned off their transponders, took them out to sea in the dark of night since they have zero radar capabilities anymore, offloaded every drop onto another vessel, and put them back by morning so no one was the wiser. That oil has been en-route THROUGHOUT the entire conflict.   Main reason he admitted this is to let even guys on our own side who joined leftists in complaining about the prices that he hears us all, and has taken steps to make sure this didn't spiral into a BAD situation ... just like the mainstream media has been PRAYING would happen, just so they could gloat. Amazes me how these people are rooting for the destruction of THEIR OWN HOME, just to make a President they don't agree with or like look bad! That's next level TDS!   I know your not capable of giving our President the benefit of the doubt, again due to your deep programming, but THIS is why oil never hit $150 a barrel as predicted by your programmers, AND the reason oil continues falling. Like I said before, Trump's got a plan, and this is proof of it. By the end of his term, we're going to be in GREAT shape for a change!   Since I just spent $3,000 this week on #2 heating oil and gasoline, the war most certainly is ending! 🤣   https://mxmnews.com/article/ba359ac9-2711-4851-92de-187f2400f2dd?breaking-trump-cancels-iran-strikes-deal-now-approved-by-all-parties
