I spoke to my local performance shop that just installed my exhaust. They are an authorized seller / installer so I am thinking of going that route in case they start acting up. Guy said they will support them no problem. I used to own a series of Tacoma’s for 10+ years. There was always a group buy of some sort going in for things like this. Are there any group buys to speak of here or on products like this? Seems like someone with a relationship with the manufacturer could work out a deal on 50 or so of these. Maybe not in a COVID world though. $1338 with free shipping and no taxes from truckandgear.com. installed myself so saved some change for sure. Got quoted $1800 out the door after taxes at the cheapest shop I called.
Mr.IMAPCMD Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 Right around $1450. Installed myself. The couple of places I called to buy/install wanted between $300-$400 just for the install. If you are comfortable running a couple of wire looms from the battery and then down each side of your truck, you should be good doing the install. There are several video's available that show you, step by step, how to do it.
romclean1 Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 I installed the AMP Xtreme (dual motors for harsh environments) and really like them so far. The step is wide, and ultra grippy. My garage with both vehicles inside is pretty tight, so it’s great having these steps out of the way. They do make a kick butt robotic sound too, so that’s fun. Definitely gets some double takes when they retract as you’re walking away from the truck. I will say they are super solid, way more solid than I thought. 1

Just talked to my local dealer and asked him the same question about the XL version with the two motors. He explained that unless your truck is lifted considerably he would recommend against the XL models. They apparently drop lower then the standard model and may be too low to be effective. In my mind more motors are better but not if they drop so low they are useless. The XL models hang 3” lower for lifted trucks. The Xtreme version has 4 motors.

Last winter was fairly mild here in WI but I didn’t have any trouble with the snow or freeze ups. The little front mud flap seems to divert most of it. Have you ever thought about installing their chrome trim piece? I’m kinda torn on how they’d look on a chrome themed white LTZ especially since they don’t tuck under the truck as much as I’d like. But I was thinking the chrome trim piece would tie it all together. Edited October 4, 2020 by ausomecasey

I kinda like the stealth look as they are, but the trim piece would make them look more like the factory retractable steps.

Yea, on your black truck, you can go either way and still look good. If you end up getting it, let us know! 1
AJ Sullivan Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 Got some about three months ago... best addition to my truck that I have made. I ripped the factory running boards off within a few minutes of the truck arriving in my driveway. I hate how they kill ground clearance and hold mud and dirt. These solve both of those problems just fine. I went without any for over a year, until I lifted the truck 2" and then I really needed some. Money well spent! 1
todd308 Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 Wish they made a model where the step extended rearward more, they look to be about 6-8" shorter than the factory ones, I never thought I'd really use them much but I do find myself now and then using it to step and reach into the tailgate for something.

Seems like you need the bedstep. Too bad they didn't make it to be in sync with the side steps, that would be too cool lol.

You could slide them back a few inches, which might be enough for a quick grab in the back
Sigwar Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 I had these on my 2018 Canyon SLT 4x4 and loved them. The bride (of 53 years) didn't really like the Canyon because she had a hard time getting in and out of it. But, after putting the AMP Research Power st4eps on, I seldom got a chance to drive it. Now I have a 2021 Sierra Denali and have just ordered another set of steps. Look into the LUX LED Rock lights to replace the AMP Research lights. The Lux lights are about twice as bright and they are magnetic - no drilling or gluing to anchor them. And, they are water resistant. They are only $99.00 plus $12.00 shipping. I'll never have another truck of any flavor without AMP Research steps and Lux Lights. The LUX lights also come in colors for lighting up your undercarriage if that's your thing. Just ky two cents worth.
RCF71 Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 I installed Amps on my 2019 F150, and I loved them! Took ‘em off and sold to a buddy when I traded the truck. I wanted them on my new AT4 but trying to keep my spending down on this truck. I found a like new set of the high clearance steps for $350 so passing on Amps for now.
