I have a 2019 TrailBoss and brought my truck to dealer other day because last couple of times I have filled my truck up it does not read full.  I have had 5 silverados and fill them up once a week and never had this issue and I am ocd about clicking them several times to make sure it is full.  Took it to the dealer and said they scanned it and no codes popped up.  Filled it up yesterday and here is a pic of the gauge.  Anyone else ever have this happen or suggestions to dealer what to look for?

There will be diagnostic information available to the dealers technician to test that the sender in the tank and the gauge in the dash. 

 

You shouldn't have to tell them anything other than the symptoms.

Did you fill it up at the same gas station each time it read low? Could the pump be shutting off prematurely? Maybe try another gas station and see if still happens.

 

How close is the dealership to you and a gas station? Maybe you could ask to have a tech go with you to fill it up so he can verify the issue.

 

Just throwing out some thoughts.

I have tried other gas stations and same result.  This is ridiculous.  The amount of money you pay for a new truck and two years old and gas gauge does not read correctly.  I offered to take tech to gas station and said they did not have time.

Picture shows it has 24,000 miles, so if it's two years from new purchase it's still under 3/36,000 bumper to bumper. 

 

Failures happen, it's how dealer handles it that is important.  

What are they proposing for the next step in diagnosis/repair?

i would just call them to make a appt to drop it off so they can diagnose and repair the Under Warranty fuel gage not registering correctly issue previously brought in for . ask them when is a good time for them to have a Loaner truck ready for you to use until they get your Truck issue solved. 

This will nicely put them on the spot ,Letting them know its there issue without being to aggressive. if they refuse then call GM for help. 

 

this showing wrong would be drive me beyond my ability to function 

 

Nice and polite but firm works better then a shouting match

I have seen this problem on other trucks and it is caused by a poor ground connection at the fuel level sensor. This sensor is difficult to see, get at and test. The tank needs to be dropped down or removed to get at the sender. This procedure is more difficult with a full tank of gas. This fault may not set a code. I am sure your dealer does not want to drop the fuel tank just to "take a peek" without verifying the complaint.

 

My advice to you and Silverado2021 would be to take a photo of the fuel gauge after you have filled it up, take it to the dealer and describe this fault in detail. Be polite but firm when you explain that this truck is under warranty, has a small fuel tank (24 gallons} and you need to get this fixed ASAP. It may be possible to plug in a new fuel sender to the existing vehicle wiring using a known good external ground and slowly "sweep" the sender from empty to full

 to test the gauge in the dash and truck wiring. After the tank is removed it would make a lot of sense to replace the sender because of the labor time involved.

 

If your dealer will not attempt to repair this problem under warranty have them give you the contact for Chevrolet Customer Service. Chevy should take care of you.

Agree wit Bikerjon here. My 2019 has never shown this symptom. I can let any gas pump click (auto shut off) once, and my gauge will show the tank is on full.

The dealer should perform a gauge sweep with GDS to make sure the cluster is good. They can make all the gauges go from full to empty..If it checks out then time to check the level sensor in the tank.

      Here's the second UOA on my 22 Wrangler with the Ecodiesel. This has 5k miles on AMSOIL Signature Series DEO 5w-40. The first one was dealer installed oil, no clue what it was, the second is what AMSOIL recommended, European FS 5w-40, Most of the Ecodiesel world is showing great results using the European MS 5w-40, I figured I would see how the DEO works. This is using an Ecoguard oil filter. It's my understanding this engine likes to shed aluminum.  We will see. So far I don't think this is too bad.

      I'm surprised nobody seems to offer a solution like the start/stop device I put in my new truck. Remembers my setting when shutdown. And while it still starts up in start/stop, it stores/evaluates what mode it was in when shut down and will change it whithin a second or 2 of startup. It'd be nice to have something like that for the DRLs.

      2015 Sierra 1500 here. Leaks from the sunroof to front driver side and soaks carpet. How do I fix this? Thanks!

      I will be doing that for sure, but I need to solve who has/ where I can find a bidirectional scan tool that will support OBD 1.5. I'm kicking myself because I ebay'ed a Snap On MT2500 that I didn't think I'd ever need anymore. D'oh!! I'd rather not buy another, so I'll contact a few local shops to see if they have one and how much they'd want to do the procedure. I'd rather have the ability to do it myself... I wish there was a modern tool that could do it all, but I'd have no idea what to buy.   The theory with the pulled timing is that it mimics a rich condition. The delayed spark causes incomplete burn and the O2 sensor picks up low oxygen levels. That's interpreted as a rich condition so the PCM pulls fuel and that shows up in the deeply negative fuel trims.
