I unloaded my 2019 LTZ Z71 with 17k miles on Saturday for 41k to Carmax. Carvana only offered 39.4k. After four window leaks, issues with 1-2 shift slam when cold, and random electrical anomalies, it wasn't worth keeping.

What did you get for a replacement?

Trade and cash-buy offers are changing weekly right now. A lot of it depends on the residuals dealers are getting passed down to them, and a lot of that data changes with the rebates on NEW vehicles. It's all interconnected.

I bought my 2019 RST 5.3L CC Z71 for $43K in March 2019 ($54K MSRP). Last KBB I did on it was $42K, and I think I could get close to that on trade, from what my buddy who owns a dealer told me. I have 15K miles.

Bottom line is... trucks are depreciating very safely right now. If you got a good deal when you bought, you should be doing well.

But when the time comes, it'll probably be a Tundra.

Well she's gone and paid off now. Carvana was a great experience. Paid cash on the barrel for a 2006 ford escape, feels much better to own it and be out from under that debt. The ford needs a few things, it won't be my forever car, but if I can get 2-3 years from it I'll be happy. 95k miles, needs all of the front ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar links. 3.0 v6 so it needs a front bank valve cover gasket (oil weepage). Other than that just the typical ford rust. Wifes car, and my mortgage are the only debt left. Really can't wait to not owe anyone anything. Wish I would have never got this Silverado honestly.

I have a 2019 RST 4x4 with the 5.3 and paid $43k for it - MSRP was $53k. That was two years ago. Ford dealership offered me $42k for it just now.

Same exact #s here.

Starting to look at trading mine for a 21 AT4 Carbon Pro 3.0L. Good incentives this month.

The average new car price now is around $40,000.  Given how much more expensive things are now.. having adjusted for inflation, and given the low number of new vehicles available on dealer lots until production returns to normal, used car prices are at a premium.  If you want to sell, NOW is the time to do so.  If you want to buy.. NOW is NOT the time to do so.  Don't expect many if any end of year deals for 2021 models or any huge manufacturer rebates or deals this year.

new trucks cost same as used ones is what ive been finding. if not going to high volume dealer or someone who can match them than prices are crazy.....

given that i can sell mine for what i paid i get same on back end.....i bought a 2019 for 36k ( MSRP 48k or so)  a new elevation is 42k but my existing truck that should be 35-37k is worth 42-43k...more if i sell it private.......so i guess its a wash, but used in my area is crazy high....can get new one for same as used 2020 or 2019.....

i bought a 2500 back in april when deals were good and financed the whole truck so basically just rented it for a year.....and inventory is crazy low on HD....just not using it as much as i thought, but if i was to take huge hit i just keep it, not worth it otherwise......

if i could just sell mine and ride it out i would but i need a replacement.....so its either used or new and seems new is about the same.....very similar to even back to last summer.....except my truck shot up another 3k

If it were something that I absolutely needed, it would be different. I got it just to keep up with the Jones'.. owing as much on my truck as I do on my house just rubbed me the wrong way after the "honeymoon" wore off of the truck (after the first week..)

I will, if everything goes as planned, we can be done with everything by the end of 2021. Short of another mortgage when we move, I hope to not have debt again.

Was the $42k trade allowance or cash value? Dealers like to play games with the numbers and wording. Ask them if they'd write you a check for the truck right now at $42k. If they won't, it was a "trade allowance".

It's still too similar to the 2019, I am waiting until the 2022 refresh. Ford decided to keep the cheap plasticky dashboard. At least Chevy's more stylish.
