Yankee Candle Leather vent sticks. Use to buy them at Cracker Barrel stores. My Buick that gets driven rarely smells like a new leather coat. Not as effective in the truck whose doors are constantly open.

My best friend had this in his ‘69 camaro when we were in the 8th grade and I have used it ever since for about 25yrs. Yes, we took the camaro out without anyone finding out.

I live in California and can testify the state does not smell that good. It's all a lie.

I just realized the scent on that can is called Coronado Cherry. They only cherries on that island are virgin rich girls. Again, it's all a lie, lol.

Funny story, same best friend lost his grandfather a few years ago. I attended the funeral and was going to give him a ride in the Cobra from the cemetery back to church. He hopped in and said, "Holy Sh*t!! Smells like my old camaro!"

I got in my truck for the first time since Saturday. The last time I drove it I was returning home from a trip to the beach where there was a firepit and we grilled hotdogs, brats, and stores. The smell of campfire when I first got in my truck today was very enjoyable.

The "new car smell" is actually a carcinogenic toxic soup.

Yes and a lovely one at that!😀

Personally nothing messes up a cars smell more than cigarette smoke, nor more impossible to get rid of and clean up! I would rather have the turds of a thousand cattle smell in my truck then a everyday smoker! Nothing worse than a smoked out vehicle imo.

has anyone tried layering two different air fresheners to mimic the new car smell more realistically? I’ve been experimenting with a mix of leather and a light vanilla scent, and it's surprisingly close. Also wondering if certain brands last longer in hotter climates, since mine fade fast during the summer. Anyone else notice that?

The heat excites the compounds in the air freshners which is why they disperse quicker in warmer temperatures. You can try putting them somewhere low/hidden and out of direct sunlight in the car. Although, I don't know how useful that will be if a closed up vehicle in full sun is getting up to 120 degrees+ inside.

I've never found a replacement for "new car" smell - nothing even comes close, IMO. And the real thing isn't good for ya anyway (carcinogens and VOC's).

I can still smell VOC's in my cars a few years down the road after they're new. It's a combination of parking them indoors and just generally keeping the inside very clean. (No greasy foods, scents, wet dogs, etc).

My truck lost that scent fast too, so I started using a light spray every week instead of those heavy hanging things. What helped most was a little under-seat pad I refreshed now and then. I got into softer scents after stumbling on REMOVED LINK while looking for ideas at home, and it made me stick to cleaner, less “fake” options.
