Hello all,

So just got my truck back from detail shop and had emblems removed, paint corrected, and ceramic coated. Only to be showed that under the emblems gmc put on there are chips under the clear coat. Anyone else have this problem?? Just curious cause truck goes in on Tuesday for the tailgate button not working on truck. It was opening on it own. Another issue I am having. Sometime u can't win haha

I'm reasonably sure the detailers chipped the paint during badge removal.  The badges are adhered to the metal with a very strong adhesive and they are difficult to remove.  If the detailer was in a hurry or inexperienced, they could easily chip the paint prying with a tool.  The badges are plastic and if one breaks while being pried on the jagged end of the plastic can easily chip the paint.  It's extremely unlikely that the paint was chipped by a factory worker pressing the badge into place during assembly.  I'm pretty sure the warranty will not cover damage caused by someone removing  a badge.  You're best bet is to get the detailer to own up to the damage.

My 10 year old at the time removed my HC badges on the fenders for me and left no indications after the tape was removed. As stated previously I would say they caused the issue

lol yeah, wasnt GM it was the detailers 100%.  Yeah the detail shop was just trying to deflect.  GM uses like a 3M tape to put those on, so there really is no way for them to chip it.  And its doubtful from the factory, the chips magically fell in that spot and GM covered them up.

The other bottom line is GM isnt covering paint corrections after it left the lot, scratches, dents etc.
