Well, just picked up a 1999 1500 4x4 Silverado with the 5.3 V8. I bought it from the original owner. Has 141k on the clock, pretty well taken care of, just needs some cleaning. Picked it up for 3k. Here we go!

First I started by pulling off the grill, tail light cages, and old side steps. Then I ripped off the side moldings, and used a rubber wheel on a drill to get the sticky tape off. Also took off the to bed cover and tossed that.

Awesome truck, good luck with the build.  Ive got an a 99 waiting for some work as well. I have to do a cab swap unfortunately due to being 2 boned where the box and cab meet.  Going to use a 00 body style to get that 4th door option.  It was the only complaint of the 99 new body style.

Welcome to the forum and what a transformation!  Lots of elbow grease I suspect!

Thanks! I'm only 34, but that hood kicked my butt! I've got a ton more in store!!!! I love to "tinker" with my vehicles, so this will be fun!

Picked up some new fender flares. I really don’t care to have fender flares at all. But there’s rust under the bed fenders. I’ll deal with that another time. Here’s a sneak peak of the old vs new fender. The new ones are OEM....

So the pictures make the truck look better than what it is. Here’s some pictures of the doors I’m working on. Running compound by Meguires does a good job and I prefer to hand compound.

My 2002 was starting to go bad with the black paint like yours but not as bad.  Only a matter of time before it took over the whole topside of the truck.

Looking great!   What are your plans for maintenance?  That is low mileage for a 99.  I take it you are going to do a full change out of fluids, or did the previous owner keep good records and did that as well?
