285/55/r20 on 20x12's -44 offset

Wanting to get bigger tires on my truck, installing a lift kit as well.

 

Can I stretch 285/55/r20's on 20x12 rims with -44 offset? 

 

Has anyone does this? 

 

Also will this effect my tire life any reviews would be awesome.

 

(Leveling kit recommendations would be awesome as well)

285/55/20 stretched onto a 20x12 looks awful.  305/50/20 would look better.   
 

but either size with just a 2.5” level is going to require a decent amount of trimming too.
