I currently own a 2021 Trail Boss wit a 6.2. I know this is a subjective discussion but looking for opinions on best cold air intake. I had the K&N on my 2011 Silverado with the 5.3. Just looking for other opinions.

S & B is what my last 2 have been..very pleased with their products. They don't make ridiculous/"bogus" HP/TQ claims. They just state their systems have the best air flow

Many have the Roto-Fab..heard many good things about them. They probably look the best inside the engine bay.

Others are Cold Air Inductions, Volant, K/N

I personally just use the Air Raid MIT with a drop in filter and stock box.

Airaid has a diy kit; mount a hood scoop, straight off the throttle body. Short of that I would say keep the stock one. Short of that I personally would go for the rotofab or afe.

GM Performance.  It's a bit more expensive, but it gets the ECU reflashed, carries a GM warranty, and is California CARB compliant.

You can't get the GM Performance intake on a 2021 unless it was optioned for one from the get-go.

Stupid GM.  Why do they have to ruin the good things?  We, the customers, are quite capable of doing that ourselves.

Which unit in your opinion is the best mix of value & performance?

I'd say OEM unless you intend to drag race your truck.  Then I'd go with the GM Performance CAI.  CAI is mostly just a noise box unless you spend a lot of time at WOT.

Doesnt the new body style have a different intake style than the previous? I know on my Sierra it looks like it comes from the top above the radiator and if memory serves on the 16 Silverado it came from the fender. If thats the case, wouldnt that change the test results from BB? Still good info but wouldnt it be different?

The black bear cold air induction testing was done on the K2 trucks and does prove that CAI work!  I’ve said this as well. You will always have “certain people” who will argue till their black and blue with you, but they are a very reliable performance shop. I found the data very interesting. I wish S&B would have had a unit available for them ti test. They make great products.

The main difference from my 2018 (K2) Sierra was the CAI system was on the passenger side.  My 2019 (T1) High Country the CAI is on the drivers side. And yes their is extra air coming in from the frontal grill area ductwork to the fender area and CAI assembly.
