When it comes to new sales numbers you're correct.  However, GM's fleet sales pricing is higher than Ford's, so Ford sells more fleet trucks.

You suggested Ford F-150 were just cheap fleet vehicles and that nobody would want it.. then tell me why it has the best resale? That was the point. I bought a Silverado in 2019 because the projected resale was higher according to KBB back then, but it seems to not be happening.

 

I don't think you really know Temecula that well, we're surrounded by $2 million houses west of the I-15, a lot grow their avocado trees. You couldn't even afford the dirt there.

I never said nobody would want it.  That's your assumption.  I said they were cheaper quality, which is why they sell cheaper.  If nobody wanted them they wouldn't be the #1 selling vehicle in America.  Businesses like them because they are a lower cost of initial purchase, which is important to differentiate because I was specifically talking about fleet pricing. 

 

Whether or not I could afford a thing in Temecula is both erroneous and presumptive.  However, I don't want to claim ownership of any spec of dirt in California.  Over priced, over taxed, and the authoritarian government controlling the state doesn't care about your civil rights.  I'll be happy to leave in about 18 months.  Like most people in my wife's profession, it's just a place to pass through.  I know of a few families that have bought a home in Temecula and drive to work in San Diego.  They are federal government employees, so their pay is public record.  They make less than my wife.  And, for the record, I live in an area where the homes are over $2 million easily.  Where I'm from the same house is $500k-$600k.  So, as I said, overpriced. 

 

Show me a Ford with the GM 8-speed from the factory.  I was very much on topic.  Does Ford offer another transmission that's 8-speed?  And, you did indirectly bring up the 10-speed.  After all, you referenced the Silverado with the 6.2.  10-speed is the only trans that comes with that engine, except in the Corvette. 

 

I don't give a p**p if you go to Ford or not.  As I said, it's your money.  Do with it as you wish.  You've turned a pleasant post into something negative.  I even concluded by encouraging you to feel free to post again, regardless of what you drive.

RAM is the cheapest and has the lowest resale. Silverado WT are also fleet vehicles, so? And actually cost less than the Ford F-150.

My residence is in Dana Point, the ranch is in Temecula, and we own quite a few buildings in Tijuana. The rich are moving in droves while the failures are moving out. You're more than welcome to move out.

 

When I said 8-speed, where did you get the idea I was referring to Ford? I own a Silverado RST 4×4..  maybe that could have been the one with the 8-speed? Hmm... You had to mention the 10-speed in the F-150, well, goodness, I'm sure it's better than the 8-speed I have.. in the Silverado. It's been a nightmare.

 

I don't even know how many speed is in the 6.2, I have the 5.3 and it yields decent gas mileage compared to the Ford 5.0.

Don't bother being Ram into this.  You're only mudding the water.  You brought up Ford and Chevy, so that's what I discussed.

 

Your pricing is not accurate, nor is it fleet.  That's retail.  Retail for a base F-150 XL is $29,290, not $29.900.  https://shop.ford.com/build/f150/#/select/

 

I don't know about, nor care to know about, Dana Point.  That's just some chest thumping right there.  I don't care about the buildings you own in TJ, either.  Just like you don't care about the land I own in Utah, Texas, and South Dakota.  I sold the land I owned in Virginia 18 months ago.  Big whoop, right?  Yeah, same here regarding you.  However, U-haul did recently report they ran out of moving vehicles in California because of the number of people that have vacated the state.  Per the last US Census, so many people have left California that it lost a seat in Congress.  So, why are home and land values still going up?  Those taxes are going to hurt more and more.  But, I have to wonder why you even brought up this garbage since it had nothing to do with your original post. 

 

You're still hung up on the 8-speed v 10-speed thing.  Move on.  Ford uses the 10-speed in their trucks.  That was an apples:apples comparison.  Even the base model XL uses the 10-speed, unlike the GMs.  Again, the only trans that matters to this convo is the 10-speed since that's what the Fords have, and you're the one that brought up Ford.  I love the 10-speed in my truck.  And, many other people in this forum have posted about its superiority to the GM 8-speed.  There are numerous people complaining about the 10-speed in the F-150s having hard shifts into 4th and 7th gears.  Again, same trans in both the Ford and Chevy, except the valving.  Going with a Ford means you will have the 10-speed, and possibly have the same issues.  At least I can say that you were warned if you do experience the same problem.  Hopefully it's not as big an issue for you as the nightmare 8-speed from GM.  That was so well documented that I made sure to avoid it when I bought my truck. 

 

As for MPG, I believe the Ford Ecoboost engines have a slight advantage over the GM gassers.  Some people on this forum have documented the 6.2 is getting slightly better MPG than the 5.3.  When I drove cross country my best 400 mile average was 20.X, and 50 mile best average was 23.9.  Just going off the DIC on that one.  However, I consistently see 23+ on the 50- mile average when driving from Vegas to San Bernardino. 

 

Btw, many rich people are fleeing California, too.  Many have headed to my home town of Salt Lake City.  Montana is being positioned as the next tech center of the US.  There's also Idaho, Arizona, and Texas.  Does that mean they're failures also.  Don't call Texans failures.  They'll take it personally.  What about Elon Musk?  That's some messed up idrology right there, especially when you consider active duty military personnel to be failures.  You stepped in that one on your own.  Stop making everything personal and stick to the facts.  And, keep in mind facts don't care about feelings.

I said 8-speed in Chevy sucked. I am sure it's worse than the 10-speed in the Ford. I bought it in 2019 when it was brand new, now it's better. Maybe it's the same for Ford.

 

I have posted 30 mpg before with the 5.3 going 60 mph on a flat surface for 50 miles. 23+? That's not good.

 

And now here you are talking about rich people fleeing California.. irrelevant to subject.

Your words.  Not mine.  I simply responded to your comment.  If it's irrelevant, then don't bring it up.  You're the one bringing up socioeconomic status.

My departure was planned before my arrival.  I'm not even a California resident.  I don't pay taxes here.  When I say Newsom isn't my governor, that's not a tantrum.  Whether or not I made it is irrelevant.  I wasn't here to "make it".  Your opinion on "making it" is tarradiddle.  In many careers it's just a stepping stone.

 

The 8-speed's problems were well documented for years before the T1s came out.  Sounds like you didn't do your homework.  It wasn't brand new, and neither was the engine.  2019 was pretty much a new body and frame.  Hopefully Ford has fixed its problems with the 10-speed.

 

I've seen 33.X mpg on my best 25-mile average while going downhill.  I've also seen 99 on the instant mpg while cruise was set at 88 mph and going downhill.  A flat surface can still be sloped.  Let's stop being ridiculous here.  If your truck really was showing 30 mpg then why get rid of it for something that'll give you less mpg in a state with some of the highest gas prices?  Super Cruise or Blue Cruise still need you to set the speed, and have no impact on mpg.  Only difference is how the steering wheel is controlled.

I wasn't going downhill but this doesn't matter. And the Ford F-150 Hybrid has been known to do better than 30 mpg and I bet that's without going 60 mph on a very flat surface.

 

Ford is $10,000 less and comes with a lot of things Silverado doesn't. I can't wait to try out the 7.2kW charger. So while you head out of California, I'll be driving around in a brand-new F-150.

The F150 hybrid is impressive, but also very expensive, truck.  Whining about price, then bringing up an even more expensive truck is laughable.  You can't get the hybrid powertrain unless you get a King Ranch or higher trim level.  You also can't get the "generator" without the hybrid.  The benefits of a hybrid powertrain are in city driving.  Hybrids usually get worse MPG ratings on the highway than in the city from the EPA, but that appears to be untrue with the F150.  The biggest gain is in the city mpg, but there appears to be some gain in highway MPG, too.  https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/PowerSearch.do?action=noform&path=1&year1=2021&year2=2021&make=Ford&baseModel=F150&srchtyp=ymm&pageno=1&sortBy=Comb&tabView=0&rowLimit=10

 

That generator in the F150 is impressive, but can easily be duplicated via aftermarket.  It's just a large backup battery that's comparable to 4 of these:  https://www.duracellpower.com/products/1440-watt-power-station.  It's 1800 peak watt power.  1800 watts = 1.8 kw.  $700×4=$2,800.  You don't need a truck with a generator when you can have a truck to transport these, and they can recharge via your truck battery and you can daisy chain them.  You don't need a hybrid for it. 

 

Btw, Ford requires you to have the hybrid powertrain in order to have the generator.  The King Ranch starts at $57,110.  Hybrid powertrain adds $2,500.  Generator adds $750.  You're over $60k without adding anything else, like Blue Cruise.

 

Oh, and Blue Cruise and Super Cruise require you to pay attention to the road at all times.  Consumer Reports is going to release that info next month with its revised scoring system.  Only GM and Ford earned points for that safety feature.  And, every state in the country requires you to maintain control of your vehicle.  Failure to do so is a citeable offense.  I hope you're not looking into the tech so you can sit back and read a book while traveling down the road while behind the steering while.  These features are level 2 self-driving, not level 5.  GM's next system called Ultra Cruise is rumored to be level 3.

 

While I'm leaving California I'll be sure to pass on helping any F150s I see broken down in the middle of the road, lol.  I'll find out where I'm headed to this coming fall, but I hope it's Spain or Japan.  There is a possibility I could up staying in California for 3 additional years.  I hope that's not the case.

The Silverado High Country with SuperCruise without the hybrid and the 7.2kW generator was still more expensive than the F-150 Lariat with the hybrid and 7.2kW generator with BlueCruise. LOL, and it's a lot quieter than a $3,995 Honda generator which uses twice the gas to power up a house. Then the F-150 dealership offered 3% below MSRP which makes the F-150 even less. Win.

Why even have to go to great lengths to explain yourself. Your happy and your getting a really nice truck, end of story. Not everyone will be on board with your justifications and that's ok .

Don't get me started on Newsom.. now he's proposing $12,000 tax a year so everybody has free insurance. I used to live in England and ****ing hated the NHS with passion.

I know down here in the OIL FIELDS, most working trucks are Ford, and many many companies and people will tell you straight up the F150-450 hold up better than the rest, next would be GM trucks. Most companies here put their money where their mouth is. 
 

 

I myself am buying a Silverado regular cab 2wd because of gas and commuting, and I am interested in the L3B, but I don’t see how anyone can bash Ford or GM. They’re pretty close in my opinion. Both have their fair share of recalls, duds, problems etc. but if you get a good one in either brand it’ll go many thousands of miles with minimal repairs.
