Was in Louisville for a few days for fall break and gags was $2.49-2.69.  Headed back to Indy (2 hours north) and it is $3.29 here.  Doesnt help we are like 5th in the nation in gas taxes but the price differences even within a 10 mile radius here is crazy as of late.

Holding at $2.33. Waiting for the next .30 - .40 cent price jump for no apparent reason

Right around $3 here. Saw a Mobil yesterday at $3.50 and a few miles away Love's at $2.98.

Down around Grand Detour Illinois yesterday and stopped in a Shell that had Regular at $2.99. Within a penny of us locally (50 miles to Detour) but the V Power was $4.05!! I left without filling up. Local Shell is at $2.99 regular and $3.61 for V Power. Explain that. 45 cent difference in premium but only a penny on regular. These two stations use the same carrier BTW.

Yea, I filled local. I can when I consider half a tank time to fill. Keeps me from getting gouged.

Was $2.89 yesterday and somehow jumped to $3.29 today.

Make that make sense. No change in the market, no change is anything. No weather change, just dumb.

That's what it does in my area. .35 -.40 cent jump over night, within 36 hours it'll drop almost a dime, then slowly bleed off until it hits the previous low

We have stations in the area that work inverse to each other. One drops thirty cents the other increases a quarter. Same brand 25 miles apart service by the same carrier from the same tank farm. WIERSEMA TRUCKING

Within a ~10 mile radius today I saw Mobil Supreme+ 93 at $4.29, $3.93 and $3.69. I don’t mind cruising around a bit to find the best price, and it paid off big this time.

    • I understand that. The price is what it is, though. The price is what oil costs today, where our choices have led us, where supply is, and where demand is, in the market that is. Speculation is for futures, what we think the price will be, but with incomplete information at the time the price is forecast. I know you know this, but you appear to be intent on making a secondary point here about what you think the market could or should be, if only other choices.   In 1975 it became illegal to export US Crude. I'm conflicted on what the best answer is. Free markets allow export in pursuit of profit. But there is also a lot to gain by producing and consuming our own oil here. How do you reconcile it?
    • That sir is a choice. And even if it were not for all the reasons stated, this disruption has zero to do with the reality of the actual logistics and everything to do with the greed of SPECULATION. Spot price is irrelevant to reality.
    • What I think you're saying is there is supply here at home, and in Venezuela, and we could ease pricing if only it were favorable to do so.   Well, yes?   But that's not the current market. Supply isn't what could someday exist, if only, it's what producers are willing to produce and sell at a certain price point.   The national price of single family homes would come way down if we'd just slap together a few million homes this summer.   RAM and GPUs would get a lot cheaper if we just set up some factories to produce a bunch more and stopped using it to build out AI data centers.
    • The turn signal/multifunction switch is faulty.  I've seen a few of these go bad at work.
