The Multi-flex tailgate on my 2022 refresh will not open the upper portion of the tailgate. I've tried to enable/disable the upper portion by holding the button for 3 seconds, but the taillights will not flash.

I've got an appointment next week to have the dealership look at it, but was hoping it was an easy fix I could do at home. Anyone have any ideas?

Do you have a factory hitch cover? I have seen newer trucks come from the factory with the Curt hitch cover that disables the inner tailgate if the cover is open (if a hitch ball mount is installed).

No, I do not have the GM or Curt hitch protector installed.

If tails aren't flashing, sounds like it's the inner gate switch. I have read of failures. Easy to replace.

That's what I was reading as well. I'll let GM replace it under warranty. Thanks

I wasn't meaning for you to change it. I was meaning it would be hard for the technician to fubar the job.

My inner tailgate opens (like using it as a table top up high) but from there if I try to open the main tailgate it does not open. I have to close the inner gate then open the main gate and then the inner gate. Was that your tailgate issue?  I'm not sure it how mine is functioning is as designed or am I missing something here.

I wish it worked with the inner gate down. I guess it's to prevent you from dropping the gate and damaging it with the inner gate down. It's annoying to close the inner gate, open the main gate, then open the inner gate again. Just work when I push the dang buttons!

My 22 refreshed Trail Boss LT has the mutiflex tailgate and the inner tailgate will not deactivate by holding the top button for 3 seconds. As soon as you touch the top button it releases the inner tailgate. The dealership has tried to get it to work and couldn't. They don't know why it isn't deactivating or how to fix it. I guess I get to add this to the list of things that don't work in my $65000 truck.

When I got my truck from the dealer I could open the inner tailgate first and then open the outer tailgate…in fact the salesperson said that was the preferred method. But now the inner gate won’t open unless the main gate is open. 😕
