when you put all that hp and torque load across 4 cylinders, vs 8 cylinder. you will be increasing the wear by increasing the heat to thos smaller components. you will loose out in the long run.

i suggest leasing it and trashing it in 6 years

Negative ghost rider, I’m sure they said same about the wee 5.9 cummins back in the day. Oops.

It’s built like the baby duramax which is prob a running 2600 psi cylinder pressures like most diesels these days but 2.7 gas will be running only approx 2000 psi cylinder pressures. Of all half ton motors it appears to have the least amount of flies on it. It’s a winner and people seem to have a hard time understanding motors in real time.

This is not true with modern engines using modern lubricants. Cars from the 80's yes, 90's yes, but engines and lubricants have come a long way since then. So much so, that reliability and longevity has almost become an irrelevant discussion.

0-60 = 7 second pig

i sure wouldn't get this motor in the SIlverado, but if its offered in the Colorado that might be a fun ride

That's a mile above sea level, for comparisons the 5.3 at that altitude takes over 9 seconds and the 6.2 over 7 seconds...

I am not even sure how to respond to that, but no it doesn't. That isn't at all how it works and I don't have enough crayons to explain how things can be built to last with certain components and heat isn't indictive of just the number of cylinders and how it correlates to longevity.

that's why so many of these new silverados have camshaft, vlom, issues, and smoked trannies at about 85000 miles,

Smoked trannies? Camshaft issues? Please just stop talking; and your old way of thinking 8 is great no longer applies...

PS, the new trucks only weight 5,000-5,200ish lbs depending on trim for 4x4 trucks with double cab and crew cabs. A lot lighter than 6,000lbs, just sayin.

My custom crew shorty 4x came off lot full of gas 5300 lbs. the loaded gmc at4 6.2 long box rental I had was 530 lbs heavier, I weighed both, motor alone the 2.7 supposed to be 160 lbs lighter than 5.3.

I can tell you my 2.7 has a 9000 lb tow rating and it’s quick af. Anything that can tow 9000 has all kinds of giddy up. Race em if you like, the 4 banger gonna surprise some folks. Especially the 60% in North America who don’t live near sea level. turbos lose only 0.05% per 1000’ meaning elevation is no longer a thing and that low torque means hills are also no longer a thing....guys better research better and maybe try them before they spout off 8 is great lol

Felt like a few years ago you could see a MT or C&D article where they tested all 3-4 engines that came in a Ford or Chevy pickup and get all those performance numbers.

Can't find too much on the refreshed Silverado, which for the 5.3 and 6.2L it doesn't matter as they were virtually unchanged.

While I already have my truck, it would be cool to see how much quicker the new HO 2.7 is compared to the last gen 2.7.

I have absolutely no interest in the Colorado/Canyon or any other mid size pickup. It's not part of my inquiry.  All I'm looking for is official 0-60 & 1/4 mile times for the 2022 2.7l vs 5.3l Silverado in the same body/chassis configurations.

I have access to both and a good way to record times.  I'll see what I can come up with.

I like the idea of the 2.7 and have absolutely nothing against it.  I don't know what elevation it was times but the 6.2 can do 0-60 in 5.4.

No way is the 2.7 even close.

I've driven a couple and liked them but at my elevation is no contest at all.
