Did you learn there is more than one way to 'CANCEL' the truth. :sigh:

Did you learn that when such an attempt fails the fallback it bury it in so much crap you can't see it? :wtf:

Did you lean most people never really care about it, just like to beat those bones? Ridiculous? 🤔

How useful would a tread be if the question asked was answered? Truth was relevant.   😱

I’ve learned so much I forget most of it.

I read so much of Grumpy I’ve realized he’s not about learning but “ see me I’m grumpy”. He’s definitely no friend.

Let’s try this : Hey Grumpy I apologize for offending you by defending myself. Do you apologize for disparaging my views and posts?

Just over 9,000 miles, the motor hasnt crapped out yet. It does sound awful quiet and smooth,, though.

Last time I touched base with the fella at K&P (also a mesh filter) his Hemi was just under 300K and running like a dream. I'd expect those that are diligent in oil choice, oil life and reasonable in use will never have an issue.

The thing is, you have to want to keep that vehicle for a long time for the cost of the oil filter to pay for it's self. Now if/when I win the Powerball that will not be an issue. :)

I dont use the reusable for saving money. Although there is a break even and saving point. ( unless it kills the motor )

I am just trying to be more green, save the land fills, pollute less.

To make up for all those years i ran my 2015 ram 6.7 cummins without the emissions on it.

I miss the ram, but love the new simple 6.6 gasser........................

I surf YouTube a lot. Today I ran across a comparison of the good old Fram. The website is whip City Wrencher. First time I ran across this website. The filters are PH8A. The new one is the extra guard claiming 10K miles protection. The old one was 45 years old. I know it’s been said the new extra guards are better than the old ones. May want to take a look at this comparison.

The Extra Guard is and always was a low-end filter. Still, it also has to be the most popular filter by a large margin. Especially when you include the SuperTech relabels at WalMart.

Considering the sheer number sold you don’t really hear of issues in spite of it’s very cheap construction.

IMO the Ultra, the Endurance (WalMart) and the Titanium (Advance Auto) are the only Frams I’d use. But obviously plenty of motors have done fine on the orange cans including cars I had back when I was dirt poor and didn’t have the money for something better. Damn sure didn’t go 10k on one though.

I’ll be using whatever brand that is a good deal at the time of me needing one. For farm that’s the ultra but would also use wix, a decent puralator, m1 or the like if a good deal and the oreilly microgaurd select which I’ve seen taken apart and it looks good. Key is I will never go past 5k miles

I have two trucks 5.3 & 6.6 that use PF63

I was using Wix filters and had two bad filters in a row, they wouldn’t seal.

I went to ACD PF63 and haven’t had a problem since.

I have a Mobil 1 that I picked up for the 5.3. I guess it’s good?

I just changed oil at 11,200 miles a few days ago, still using the reusable filter, still no strange noises and the motor hasnt crapped out yet.

    • I understand that. The price is what it is, though. The price is what oil costs today, where our choices have led us, where supply is, and where demand is, in the market that is. Speculation is for futures, what we think the price will be, but with incomplete information at the time the price is forecast. I know you know this, but you appear to be intent on making a secondary point here about what you think the market could or should be, if only other choices.   In 1975 it became illegal to export US Crude. I'm conflicted on what the best answer is. Free markets allow export in pursuit of profit. But there is also a lot to gain by producing and consuming our own oil here. How do you reconcile it?
    • That sir is a choice. And even if it were not for all the reasons stated, this disruption has zero to do with the reality of the actual logistics and everything to do with the greed of SPECULATION. Spot price is irrelevant to reality.
    • What I think you're saying is there is supply here at home, and in Venezuela, and we could ease pricing if only it were favorable to do so.   Well, yes?   But that's not the current market. Supply isn't what could someday exist, if only, it's what producers are willing to produce and sell at a certain price point.   The national price of single family homes would come way down if we'd just slap together a few million homes this summer.   RAM and GPUs would get a lot cheaper if we just set up some factories to produce a bunch more and stopped using it to build out AI data centers.
    • The turn signal/multifunction switch is faulty.  I've seen a few of these go bad at work.
