Black smoke = normal.  GM DI V8 engines double pulse injectors during cold starts and its more noticeable when its colder ambient temperatures.

You and your dog might feel it being -20°F, but your truck and house doesn't. Wind chill will cool your truck down faster to the ambient temp, but never lower.

Exactly right, wind chill is only felt on living things.

If you're concerned I suggest using better oil for cold starts. Amsoil Redline

I have right now castrol edge EP gold, seems to be doing goods have redline coming I will be changing as soon as a get it and ill be sending a sample of my castrol to blackstone

Another reason to use well formulated clean burn fuels. Good luck determining that.

20 degrees? I would love that. We haven't been above zero now for 8 days straight.  🙂

I don't buy the concept that our gas/fuel is poor quality. I have never had an issue with any motor that I could blame bad gas/fuel. 

I have always used a major brand gas/fuel, not the discount joints. Also for the last 10 years Top Tier only. 

I also use fuel system cleaners regularly.

Why regularly use fuel system cleaners? 

I agree with you. At least the part where you use best quality fuels and adding cleaners to remove the crap deposits they leave.
