I would have put a new battery in it first time it wouldn't start.

So I ran across this article and am wondering if there's something similar causing a draw on the BCM due to a plug or wiring harness issue. Obviously trucks don't have a 3rd row seat, but perhaps something to do with the tailgate or the electronic parking brake? There might be a bunch of other systems that rely on something to shut them down when the vehicle is turned off. Since this seems to have been happening to multiple people mostly on the 22+ refresh trucks, perhaps there is something GM hasn't discovered yet. If you could find a dealer to perform the battery draw procedure, it might lead them to something to resolve this issue.

I read this and was wondering the same thing. I don’t have the issue as other owners do but wondering  the outcome of this issue.  First thing I would do is check the charging circuit to make sure the battery was get a full charge when it needed it. Then I would move on to look for a parasitic draw through the fuse box . If I found a parasitic draw ( module not timing out ) ect…. If I found that I would get a schematic and list all the circuits associated with that fuse. Then monitoring my parasitic draw I would start unplugging modules until the draw went away. That would be the module I would start with. Look up pin out of that module and test inputs and out puts to that module. There will be a circuit from that module that will stay “awake” causing an amperage drain. That is your circuit to troubleshoot or the module is staying on. What I’ve typed here is a condensed version of how to find a draw in any vehicle. This can be a lengthy process and the tech will be paid 8 /10th, not even a hour labor and then the time to replace the module, wire, or solenoid under GM warranty. This is why these  problems are push aside and not dealt with in the dealership shop. There are a lot of videos of how to find a electrical parasitic draw on you tube! The electrical in these vehicles are getting more and more intense and tech are getting more and more lazy at troubleshooting it because under warranty there is no money in it. This is the same for all dealership shops. Unless things have change since I was at dealership

Sure the problem is the truck, its whole existence depends on a full charged battery and your driving is not providing that, weather you want to admit that or not.

RE: Transport Mode is intended for use when shipping new GM models over long distances from the assembly plant. When enabled, It reduces the parasitic electrical load on the battery when the vehicle is parked, which extends the battery stand time up to 70 days without the battery going dead.

Transport Mode should be left on while the vehicle is in dealership inventory. In addition, a customer may want to use Transport Mode if the vehicle is going to be stored. The method to turn Transport Mode off or on again is the same.

Can I ask how you set a vehicle to transport mode? Didn't see it mentioned in the owner's manual.

Fwiw, I got the truck back and they replaced the battery and called it good. After 5 episodes of finding a dead battery, no doubt the original was being effected. However, it sure would have been nice to figure out the root cause on how a perfectly good battery starts the truck all month long, then the next day its so dead the doors won't even unlock.  We will see how the next few weeks go.

Hey MrMagloo how is your new battery holding up? I just bought a NOCO GB 40 just in case.

So far so good, but we are nearing the normal 30 day interval, so I'm holding my breath with my NOCO GBX55 with me every single place I go.  It's still very odd to me that after I turn off the engine, exit the vehicle, lock the doors and wait for the lights to go off, I still hear all sorts of strange apparatus cycling sounds for an oddly long time.  Its not the normal fans, but it sounds like solenoids and such. Very unnerving.

Then a week or so ago, my door handle button unlock stopped working out of the blue.  I hit the FOB the doors would unlock, and the handle button would lock it, but not unlock. Very odd.  So I had to go through all of the settings to cycle all of them, and it started working again. Not sure what caused this, but raised the irritation level another notch.

I gotta say that the electronics on this truck scare the heck out of me.  Between all of the odd things going on, how locked down everything is, and the skyrocketing complexity, questionable reliability, and repair costs, I just don't have the confidence this thing is going to give me 10yrs/150K trouble free miles. Got my fingers crossed. Don't get me wrong, I really like the truck, especially the LZO, but do we need all the gizmos?  Back to basics I say.

You are absolutely right about all the bullsh*t tech on the new trucks. Good thing we aren't flying to the moon inside one of these things. FWIW all the clicking, servos and other mystery noises that you are hearing shortly after engine shutdown is a "brake aliveness test" and is perfectly normal. Its designed into the truck. I got that from a GM engineer.

Interesting theory. If it really takes 5 minutes to complete the procedure after you lock it up and walk away, it sure sounds like they need to come up with another route. I also heard it had something to do with the diesel.  But who really knows.

Over the decades one thing I've learned is AC Delco batteries are junk.  I buy the best I can get my hands on.  Iirc, that's currently whatever AutoZone's best label is.  Just going off independent reviews for that result.  It changes periodically.  There use to be a time where I'd only buy Exide NASCAR Extreme, which I was able to get through Tractor Supply.
