tonneau covers

2023 2500 High Country std bed.  Any opinions on a "fold up type cover" that I can open to last fold and pull 5th wheel camper.  Will have 33" from front of bed rail to hitch and I think I read somewhere cover folds are 30" so that would work.

I've tried a few different ones in the 2 years I've had my truck.  I started with a Gator FX hard tri-fold and really liked it.  I only sold it to get one that would flip all the way forward against cab for full bed access.  Next up was the Bakflip MX4 as I'd had it in previous trucks and liked it.  This time around the build/material quality of it seems a lot cheaper than previous ones I'd had in the past.  Overall it was fine, but I didn't like how the next to last section towards tailgate didn't actually latch down.  When the bedcover was closed I could still get my hand under that section and lift up on it easily; not very secure at all.  I currently have a Agri-Cover Lomax Stance carbon fiber cover and like it so far.  it's lightweight, and yet still really solid.  Bed stays pretty dry, with the only water intrusion being around the tailgate.   I wasn't thrilled about the brackets that mount to the roof to lock the bed cover in the upright position, but I hardly ever flip it all the way up so not a big deal.  Hope this helps.

I have the BakFlip MX4........

None of the issues mentioned above.....fits like a glove and works well. Had the MX4 on my 2020 RST and liked it so well, I purchased another for my 2023. Very happy with it......

looks like you have it on a 1500 though; the 2500 has longer bed on the standard box which has an extra panel on the cover.  That extra panel is probably what makes the difference.  Like I said, I've had the MX4 on my previous 3 trucks and liked it as well; I was surprised this time around.  The one I got this time came from Real Truck online as where the previous ones came from a dealer in my area if that makes a difference.

I have a truxedo roll up cover. Their top model the pro X15. Instead of a plastic like material it uses a more premium feeling convertible top like material. I like it but I’m not super picky about covers. It stays tight and I like to be able to roll it all the way to the window. Security is not a huge concern for me I park inside and live in a nice area. Plus I don’t keep my gold bars and Bearer bonds in the bed.

I put a LoPro on my 1500 and liked it for keeping things clean and dry. However, it didn't have any security features so when leaving a Yeti, equipment, or tools in the back you had to cable them in. I never locked the tailgate so they wouldn't cut my cover. When I bought the 2500 and since it locked the tailgate with the doors I went with the ReTrax MX and absolutely love it. It can be adjusted to nearly anywhere, and is more secure than the vinyl rollups.

2kflhr-my bad, failed to mention I'll be using a combo tool box/fuel tank so roller would be in conflict.  Deal breaker; I use my hidden fuel tank and tool box a lot when we're touring 3-6 months per year.

Jack, to answer your original question about measurements, the Lomax Stance I currently have measures 33” from back glass to edge of cover folded up to the front section without folding it all the way vertical against cab.  Hope that helps.

Exactly, "back of glass to edge of panel".  I would only fold upright against glass when opening tool box to fuel or get tools; so, no driving.  Although, some of the videos I saw, they were driving with panel upright; but, didn't show the after pics.

Jack, I have the UnderCover Armorflex on standard bed.  From front inside of top truck bed edge to rear of last panel is 32.5".

Great tonneau....has a strong and durable bed liner finish.  Fits well, and unless you used a prybar to lift it up at rear, it is pretty secure.
