I am fairly competent when it comes to accessing online fora.  However, this site has me scratching my head and I need help, understanding and/or advice.

FIRST -  I have left msgs for the forum administrators, and have not received a single response.  Why not?  Are there any active forum administrators?  How may they be contacted?

SECOND - When I select the 1999-2013 Silverado & Sierra 1500 forum and request to be shown Unread Content, I get posts form any and all available fora on the site; e.g., 2024 Duramax.  What is this about?  Is there a way to read only new posts in the 1999-2013 Silverado & Sierra 1500 forum (and sub-fora)?

THIRD -  I have no means of logging off the site when I have finished reading/posting.  Clicking on the LOG OFF  button does absolutely nothing!  How does one log off when done?

At least for me, navigating here is not straight foward, simple, intuitive or convenient.  If I am doing something wrong, please tell me what.  If it matters, my computer OS is Win10; though that should not make a difference.  I would really appreciate any guidance that can be offered.  Thanks!

To log out you should click your name in the upper right corner and click Sign Out.  As for why other forums are showing up in "Notifications (the bell)"  I have no idea.  All mine are strictly in this forum, 99-2013

I am aware of the upper right corner button containing my name.  I would expect clicking on it to give me a drop down menu with a log off option; as is the case with most fora.  However, clicking on the name button here yields no result whatsoever.

Nor am I ever asked to login when accessing this site. Instead I get this-

My notification info (bell) contains this:

The admins pay little attention to this site unfortunately. There are some moderators that still give a damn and keep an eye on things but have limits to what they can do.

Seeing unread content within a forum doesn't work the way you think it does. The "Unread Content" link is site-wide no matter where you click it. If you want to see what's unread within a specific forum only, you would need to "follow" that forum, click "Unread Content", and then set the Following filter to "content posted in areas I follow".  This will show you all unread content across all areas you follow at once. The only way to see it for only one forum area would be to FOLLOW only that one area.

If you're having issues logging off, I would suggest you clear ALL temp data and cookies for this site and then log back in. You could also try a different browser to see if it behaves differently.

I’m not techy and only use my iPhone since I retired. This website is set on my phone as an icon. I hit the icon and up it comes. I have it set to newest thread. There isn’t that many so I just click on what I want to read. I have an ad blocker so no ads. When done I slide down on my screen hit the little box I’m out. I never log off any of my sites. You want to get the attention of a moderator type in some nasty stuff they’ll show up.

As for logging out......

Your adblocker is causing an issue. Mine does it too. If it's ON, then clicking on my username, upper right does nothing. Try pausing your adblocker on this page temporarily. You should then see the "hand symbol appear" and you can click on log out.

Ad Blockers may cause other minor issues. I've found when replying to a PM or maybe even a post, I might click on submit and nothing happens. I've discovered again Ad Block interference. Try this: Make sure you're getting the hand symble appearing when you're hovering over "submit" or "Save". If not, move off the word save, but still in the box. Hand symble should appear and you can click on it

Ember provides good info. You can try the cookie thing, but pausing ad block temporarily works for me to be able to access certain functions like logging out

If there are any admins here who do give a damn, they have failed to contact me?

As for Following filters I do no see a "content posted in areas I follow: option.  Here is what I see -

Follow 1999-2013 Silverado & Sierra 1500

Send me:

A notification and an email when new content is posted
Change how the notification is sent

One email per day with all new content from that day

One email per week with all new content from that week

o Do not send me any notifications

o  Let others see that I follow this

You are correct, the ad blocker was preventing me from accessing the Log Out button.

Thanks, but I do not know that all the disturbing ads are worth being able to click on the Log Out button?

A) There are Moderators (not Admins) that pay attention to the site still care about it. If you identify one of them or if you post in an area they monitor for these type of issues, they WILL respond. As an side, one of the Mods actually DID chime in on this thread already and actually guided you to a partial solution (addressing the logout issue).

B) Your description is around how you get notified of new posts but you asked about searching for Unread Content. Under the 1999-2013 forum, click the "Follow" button near the top of the content. Once you have your profile set to follow a sub-forum, click "Unread Content" at the top or bottom of any page. Toward to upper part of the page will be a series of filters. in the "Following" drop-down, choose "Content posted in areas I follow" and it will update to show you what's unread in the various sub-forums you have subscribed to.

Most ad blockers allow you to pause the software, take care of business, then just reload the page and ad block will kick back in since you just paused it for this one page temporarily.

For the member that uses ad blockers with no issue, good for you. Not all blockers work the same. Some may have to try workarounds or switch blockers in worst case scenarios.

    • Point of the post sir was that while both wages and cost are rising EVERYWHERE; the cost is rising faster EVERYWHERE than the ability to buy EVERYWHERE. We're not going down the location rabbit hole. I'm aware of what economic migration is. I've lived in four states including Texas.   It's what "Purchasing Power" means.   I'm not telling you what I think. I'm telling what the government, your government, data shows.   It wasn't an argument. It wasn't a suggestion. It was a statement of FACT. You are absolutely entitled to your own opinion. Your not entitled to your own facts. If you and I were, they wouldn't be facts.    fact /făkt/   noun Knowledge or information based on real occurrences. "an account based on fact; a blur of fact and fancy." Something demonstrated to exist or known to have existed. "Genetic engineering is now a fact. That Chaucer was a real person is an undisputed fact." A real occurrence; an event. "had to prove the facts of the case." The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, 5th Edition • More at Wordnik   If you'd like to disagree call your Senator or Representative and let him know his departments are in error. But you and I? We are not doing this.
    • Probably a one and done post, but do you have a CEL on the dash? Was having issues with my transmission, fortunately only a week, and it turned out to be the transmission harness. Valve body was in good shape, so new harness with all the sensors attached, new fluid, and filter. Seems to have worked so far?
    • Two interesting tidbits of information which are NOT related were just released.   One, regarding the possible thrust bearing issues / engine failures with the 3.0. Demonworks just did a segment in which they believe they may have found "a" or "the" cause of thrust bearing failures: A missing thrust bearing. If the engine doesn't have all its thrust bearings from the factory, the missing bearing can cause extra play which ends up destroying a nearby thrust bearing which then sends metal through the engine.       Of other importance, Lake Speed Jr released some interest information regarding oil weight selection for the 3.0. Comparisons of:   AcDelco 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w30 Mobil 1 ESP x4 0w40. Mobil Delvac 5w40   Spoiler alert: The Mobils are PAO Ester -base and the ACDelco is a Group III base. Mobil shows lower wear in their tests for similar weights. Additive packages between 20-30-40 weight ESP's appear to be the same, but only 0w20 is Dexos D licensed. Wear is even more reduced with 30 and 40 weight ESP although all perform very well and resist shear and provide very similar viscosities within temperature operating ranges in the 3.0.   There are even more surprises, so just go watch it.
    • Hello Guys I'm new to the form,         I just put a 7-inch Rough Country lift on my 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 5.3 and I also put a Borla exhaust on it. But I noticed when I'm in park or in neutral and then I rev my truck up really quick there is a bad click noise and I think it's coming from the motor somewhere. Anyways I got a video of it I will attach below I was just wondering if you guys think its rod knock or lifter tick or something like that because I know the AFM kind of made the lifters weak on these trucks.       Thanks!!!!! • We’ll have to agree to disagree. I didn’t experience or know anyone who had a decent car after 100K miles in the 60s through the 80s that were daily commuter vehicles. Unless they were collector vehicles. Of course things cost more due to inflation. But we also make more money. The biggest money drains these days are things people think they need today versus what we require back in the day. Like cell phones and internet as examples. Another example is where you live. Cost of living varies from state to state. I would need twice the money to live in NJ vs Texas in retirement. The car you recently purchased was less than my first car with inflation at 3000$ in 1973. I didn’t have air, electric windows, cruise etc. Purchasing power is equivalent, you just have to do the research.
