The origins of this thread, like how god let all those children drown in Texas? It's a damn shame.

This statement reminds of my father. His mother got diabetes around the age of 50. She was given the tools to mitigate the illness. She decided to eat what she wanted the last few years weren’t kind to her. My father proclaimed there is no GOD. He thought of his mother as an angel. No matter what we said about free will he wouldn’t change his mind. The same thing happened to him. He took the same path with the same result. The last few years when my mother came home from going to the gym. He would have the tv on a religious station. I think he got it. There’s really no earthly explanation to that question if you don’t believe. If you do believe you get comfort in knowing they’re in a better place. If you don’t then you ask that question.

It's the collision of free will and predestination that gets me. Did god will those children to die? Did he see it coming, and didn't care, allowed it to happen? Or, was he powerless to do anything about it? If you believe in free will, logically you have to cede that god isn't all-powerful or all-knowing. Can't be, in this universe. He created it, according to fairytale. The design is his. And if he's not in charge, well, then, I want to speak to a manager.

And is it really free choice, or "a" choice, if the choice is between eternal punishment, or giving affection to a jealous, spiteful, and narcissitic being? That really starts to sound like domestic violence and enslavement.

The children died, and I prefer to believe God didn't have hand there, because he doesn't exist. Not in the way the religious people think "it" does. Because the alternatives - that he willed those children to die, or let it happen on his watch - is even worse. Those children aren't in a better place. They had the gift of life stolen from them.

Also, what happened to being "done" with me? Admit it, you love chatting with me. And customboss too. You guys can't break up yet...

There was a warning about being political. There’s always one guy who keeps pushing the envelope. I think he likes to get threads locked. Maybe some day he will get locked.

And yet, here you are, with your bag of yarn. Have a seat, dear, don't just stand there...

God knows everything and he can choose to intervene or not to intervene.  Did you know that small children are referred to as innocents and should they die, they go to heaven?  Those who understand God and his plan do not fear death like the lost person.  Those who have been born-again know what happens to a person after death and that people are either with the Lord in heaven or are eternally separated in the lake of fire for all eternity.

An evangelist once told me, there are two kinds of people, saint and ain'ts.  I was once a militant atheist but was converted when I went to disprove God's existence once and for all.  I'm thankful that my name was written in the Lamb's book of life on June 13th, 2007.  That afternoon was the moment that I recognized that I was a guilty sinner for breaking God's laws and was deserving of eternal hell.  That's when I made repentance towards God and put my faith in Jesus Christ.  At that moment I was indwelt by the Holy Spirit for all eternity and given a new heart with new desires.

I still sin, but am remorseful, immediately so, when I do it.  On the other hand, I delight in knowing the Lord and having my prayers answered by Almighty God.

Don't put it off man, you don't know when your last day on this earth is going to be.

Hey Grumpy we found you a friend finally.

More interesting revelation to the reader is that you seem to have found christian  nationalism at the same time of

your conversion with the orange orangutan 🦧 as your leader. Hmmm. 🤔

I thought politics and religion were banned, I'll play nice and leave it at that.

It’s okay to a point. Then the usual suspect or suspects ride it to being obnoxious, then lock. Slowly they become isolated until another obnoxious person joins their destructive behavior. This thread invites some religious conversation because of the sadness with people looking for comfort.

Religion is a crutch to me that I can't lean on. I'll deal with life on my own terms. Politics just isn't worth my time.
