Let me try and simplify things here a bit. The American people had a choice last November and they made it. Rather than reflect on how they might make better choices for a Presidential candidate, the Democrats have chosen to spew hatred towards Trump and his supporters. They could have had an open convention and had the opportunity to nominate a viable and credible candidate through a truly democratic process, but instead they thwarted democracy within their own party and anointed a pinhead wino. And this after 4 years of "Weekend at Bernie's". The Democratic party has run so far off the rails, don't be surprised if "Commie Mamdani"" isn't their nominee for President in 2028. For the sake of our 2 party system and the checks and balances that entails, the moderates within the Democratic party must seize back control of their own party and that means now, don't waste time finger pointing and dropping F bombs.

It's clear that these two guys get their news from MSLSD and CNN.  They know so much that isn't so.  TDS is a mental disorder.

Mean while back to the typic "KERRVILLE FLOODING".

Exactly!!!

Time to drop the obviously political stuff, which frowned upon in the site rules for various reasons. People don't come here to see that stuff. Y'all apparently have no other outlet though.

Nah, hearing that Trump was informed by the DOJ in May that his name appears in the EPSTEIN FILES (Client list?) is way more interesting. Besides, according to Karnut they're done rebuilding and they have all the help that was needed.

Sorry, wish we all could just be Americans. Hard to ignore obvious. Loss of life is horrible but ignoring science and physics will kill without regard to opinion.

Those children died because a wall of water was so high and the adults ignored it.

When someone criticizes a particular party or movement that’s totally American. When the politics is over and criticism of acts and factual behaviors is also American. I’ve never believed I would see us divided by an opinion being challenged by facts. It’s sad 2 posters here see that. I offend to get attention to facts. Not because I think  my opinion means more than anyone else’s.

One of the pieces that bothers me is taking sides from the perspective of "...but the California fires!". It's not fires-versus-floods. We as Americans deal with all kinds of natural and man-made disasters. Both of these were natural disasters. California has an extremely high population concentrated in an area with dry and hot conditions. Fires are a fact of life there, and yes, it's going to take a lot of time to rebuild because of the extent of property damage. Years. Texas and the South/Southwest has flooding and storm systems coming off the Gulf of Mexico. That's also a fact of life.

I think terminology needs to be better understood as well. A "100 year flood" doesn't mean it only happens every 100 years. It means it has a 1% chance of occurring in a given year, which also means there is a nonzero probability of that kind of flood happening every few years.

WE ALL can learn from these events. Better forecasting. Better prevention. Better risk mitigation. That's not blame - at all. It's about being better equipped to save lives and protect property going forward.

Facts <> Opinion. There are no alternative facts -- only lies.

Glad you asked!
PBS NewsHour, Frontline, Fox Business News, Washington Week, Firing Line, CNBC, Morning Joe, The Lever, Al Jazeera, NPR at times, FOX News Sunday, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, NY times, Seeking Alpha, CNN rarely, MSNBC not much anymore besides what’s  listed above. I have dementia that’s affecting my reading comprehension now so

podcasts help inform.

TDS probably so because when I lived in Queens I learned what a selfish cheating turd as a businessman he was to those he contracted with.

@swathdiver you’d do well to be as informed as me and I hope you are.

There was a warning about being political. There’s always one guy who keeps pushing the envelope. I think he likes to get threads locked. Maybe some day he will get locked.

Answering a comment  I could not answer yesterday is not political. It’s about being informed.

One last time. It’s hard to have a reasonable conversation with someone when out of the blue they make ridiculous statements. Example well California pays more taxes. Or a person messed with their 17 year old daughter. Of course California pays more taxes. That’s just juvenile. I’m not going to explain the monetary system to you. Or population density. Or the cost of living and how that affects taxes. When you get underwater in a thread you spin. Insults follow. So I won’t engage further with you. How about we get back to the origins of this thread?

The origins of this thread, like how god let all those children drown in Texas? It's a damn shame.
