I think the 2027 trucks look great, although I will be keeping my 2025 since it will paid off in January. Now, in the original post it was stated that the 2.7 finally gets the 10 speed. I'm not sure that's a good thing. So far it seems like the revised 8 speed from 2024 and on is a better transmission than the 10 speed. I guess time will tell.

I'm underwhelmed.

Too much Hummer parts bin salvaging, mirrors and steering wheel.

"More expressive interior color schemes", nowhere to be seen. Same old Jet Black everything with different seat covers trim bits and maybe door accents.

Lots of dumping every other idea in the truck world into this: work surface console lid, pano sunroof, passenger screen. Not saying they are bad, pretty obvious GM was late to the game now adding it.

The weird marker lights over the bumper at the front of the bumper.

Mixed feelings on the fender flares.

I've touched my headlight switch twice in the last 5 years.

Its not bad, but nothing game changing. No massive leap frog over Ram or Ford, its competitive.

Same… have been used to reaching in the door or window and using the light switch for years.  On the glass center screen makes zero sense ergonomically but I can only assume some young engineer or accountant justified it by saying they’re automatic and no one uses the switch.

Not to mention when you want to automatically turn off the lights now you got a blaring screen blinding you.

We still haven't seen the GMC's. I expect the Chevys to more orr less match the Fords, but with no all aluminum body and simple SBC, be significantly more affordable. I'm hoping GMC offers the 6.7 engine and lays it all out on the line. My main question? More premium GMC's already use composite leads out back. Does Chevy get any? What other frame/suspension changes?

Is the carbon pro bed still a thing? I figured it was one of those things that quietly disappeared from low take rate.

I thought Chevrolet tried adding it too...

Minimal.

Despite all the 'all new' versions since GMT-800, lots of parts still swap from generation to generation.

I've seen a bunch of GMT-800s with a K2 rear bumper on them.

I'm just amazed there's any interest at all after their track record the past 19 model years.

How many years did people get screwed by AFM? Then the 6.2 debacle ... and the variation from Ford's exact 10-speed that works fine, but GM had to take it and screw it up as usual causing yet ANOTHER failure mode ... and the list goes on!

From my perspective this sounds like a company with contempt for its customers. I vote with my wallet.

I was a Chevy guy for years, then switched to GMC because I liked the looks better.  I'm actually thinking I like the Chevy looks better than GMC for the first time in a lot of years.

One thing I know for certain, the new GMC dash is hideous!  Chevy wins this one!

We have now!  2027 GMC Sierra  Early look, but I'm a GMC guy and so far I think I like the looks of the Chevy better.

If I may, I'd like to post my prediction of the trim levels for the 2027 GMC Sierra, based on what was released/introduced today about the Chevy Silverado.

Using the "Professional Grade" wording already in use by GMC, here are the eight (8) trims I believe the Sierra will offer (comparable Chevy trim in parenthesis):

  • Sierra Pro (Work Truck/WT)
  • Elevation (Custom)
  • Elevation Premium -or- Ultimate (Silverado)
  • AT4 (Custom Trail Boss)
  • AT4 Premium -or- Ultimate (Trail Boss)
  • AT4X (ZR2)
  • Denali (High Country)
  • Denali Ultimate (N/A)

If GMC would rather simplify the trim levels, then I predict six (6) with package upgrades in parenthesis:

  • Sierra Pro (with a Graphite package upgrade option)
  • Elevation (with a Premium -or- Ultimate package upgrade)
  • AT4 (with a Premium -or- Ultimate package upgrade)
  • AT4X (with AEV and Ultimate packages upgrade)
  • Denali
  • Denali Ultimate

Let's see if I'm close.

You nailed it with 6 trims.

I really like the look of the new truck.  I have a 2024 Sierra now and will keep it, but I'm jealous that the shifter is back where it should be... on the column!  The goofy shifter in the console is one of the few things I hate about my truck.

I never understood the hate for the column shifter. The console shifter just gets in the way, takes up prime cargo space and in my wife's Jeep, the dog constantly bumps the console shifter into neutral!

Best choice ever to just make it a column shifter across the lineup and be done with it.

(Bonus: Makes swapping from a 5 seater to a six seater far easier)

I actually prefer the GMC interior. Gives off mid-century modern vibes.

Have to go with the Chevy dash this time. GMC in my fav in the current trucks but the 2027 GMC has a hideous dash.
