NAV and 6 disk changer in a Silverado

I got my non-lux touch screen head unit installed and it works great. I have not yet installed the VSS wire though. Right now it works pretty good though. Does anyone know the part number for the manual on how to use this thing though. I cant figure out all the features on it. Let me know if anyone can help.

Sign up to get an account, then add your vehicle type (and/or a vehicle that comes with the Nav unit). Once you have done that, click on the "vehicle home" button. Next, click on "Glovebox" on the left. On the next page, click on Owner's & Service Manuals. You should now see links to Adobe Acrobat downloadable versions of the owner's manual and the supplimental navigation manual.

I know a bunch of people have been asking me, and i think they are all from this thread... But i have another AMP up on Ebay, tested with the NAV and 100% functional....I will have another next week. MAn, these are getting tough to get a hold of. I cant believe this thread is almost a year old....jeeeeez

That's good news. Hope I win. I don't have a DVD yet but the HU works great when the amp works. It works about every other start up and still no theft lock so I guess the HU was a new unit. I wonder how many people have used this thread and the one on Avalanche to upgrade their trucks/SUV's.

All,

Do these LUX amps come pre-programmed based upon model number if you buy them new from a distributor? In other words, if I went with the 454 amp, that I believe is the Denali part number, will this be pre-programmed to work with the Denali? I'm planning on putting it in an '05 Tahoe.

Thanks,

Brad

nothing will be programmed if you buy it new. It will come sort of like a floppy disk, ready for loading. The best method is to find one thats pulled from a working vehicle, that way there is no question, plus its a hell of a lot cheaper. In my experience, i cant tell the difference between an AMP programmed for say, an Escalade EXT and one programmed for a Yukon Denali. I know that there are a couple extra speakers in a Yukon, but the sound seems to balance itself nicely.

Sperry, Linda, anyone............

Why doesn't the "brand" logo (GMC) come up on my nav screen (just very briefly on start)?

When is it supposed to be displayed or what are you supposed to do to get it to display the logo? I thought that it stayed on when the radio was off.

Thanks

(the unit is a 0099 brand new in the Delphi sealed box)

The NAV should read the vehicles VIN number and make a determination what vehicle its in, then display that vehicles logo. What does yours display when you cycle on the power?

Comes on very briefly with the GMC logo, and if the radio is off, it just shows the dark screen with the clock is displayed.

I thought that the logo was displayed while the radio was off.

The install went great, I removed the dash cover (piece of cake, due to taking my time). Found several loose pieces parts and wire harnesses gone awry, so I got to tighten and tidy up some stuff while I was in there.

Only casualty was the dag blasted light sensor. Ordered a new one $24.

Ok I got bad news...My radio has worked from day 1 which was around thanksgiving time...today after work I come out to the truck and no sound...it worked fine like normal on the way to work but nothing now...I had my data wire tied to the power for the rear concole so in order for me to get sound I always had to turn on the rear seat controls..now when i do that i dont get anything...is this maybe a wire loose or did something go wrong? like i said, it worked fine all the way up until i took the key out this morning...very weird....all my steering functions work except volume...which wire is responsible for that ?

Does everything work except the sound, including no chimes? Mine is now working every two or three start-ups, then no sound. When I have no sound, all other functions work, so I know my data wire is good. I think I messed up my amp. If your data wire connection is bad you would lose all functions your amp now controls. I know I'm cool for tunes when I put the key in and hear chimes.

Guys, I highly suggest you check your connections, and follow the schematic carefully. The data wire should come from PIN "A1" at the HU in my opinion, and all your connections that are not direct pins inserted into the harness should all be soldered. The VSS wire should be soldered at the Instrument cluster harness PIN "A4". The data wire should be soldered at the HU harness PIN "A1", then ran to the AMP harness. I know theoretically the data wire should be the same through out the system, but i have heard of a few cases like "4x4TX" is decribing when the data wire is connected to the RSA instead of the HU. If your AMP is good, you follow the schematic carefully, and solder all your connections, you should never have a problem. This is a moderately skilled upgrade that requires a little patience. Dont let your excitement of completing the project overshadow doing the job thoroughly.

I connected data to A1, all my connections are soldered and shrink wrapped, I checked wiring multiple times, and took my time...I'm in no hurry for screw-ups, for whatever it's worth...
