Ready to Crank up the Tbars.

Ok, I have a 2005 Sierra CC Z71 and I am ready to crank up the torsion bars to level the thing out. I have read most of the posts but I still want reassurance I won’t have any problems. I'm looking for hints and tips on what to do. Do I need to add spacers to the bump stops and shocks because of the longer travel? Will I need a Ford or green key, is it recommended? New shocks? Looking for anyone with experience who can give some pointers.

Thanks guys...

I agree...just level it out and get an alignment done. I have turned mine up approx 1 1/2 inches and it looks great. It needed a good alignment afterwards. I did not jack up the front either. Just laid on my back and used a wrench. I have put on 5000km so far with no ill efects.

I turned mine up 3.5 turns on the driver side, and 1.5 turns on the passenger. Raised my front up 2 inches. When I went to get my alignment....like 300 miles later.....my alignment was already still perfect. Go figure huh. It didnt affect ride quality at all either.

Crankum 4 turns gives you about 2" and do jack the truck up with the front wheels off the ground first that relieves the strese on the threads on the adj. bolts while you are turning them in, but do equal turns on the left and right side. PS dont waste your money on differant keys (ford, green keys) you get the same ride and lift, you still need the same amount of tension pushing down on the bars verses the weight of the front of the truck to get the lift no matter how much your adjustment key are indexed.Think about it. Iam sure this will start some key wars again.

Remember................Mark the bolt heads and frame rail before

you start. In case you mess up and want to return to stock!

One bolt may be turned in further/not even with the other.

Don't be alarmed..........................

Turn the bolts clockwise to raise......

Counterclockwise to lower...................

Have fun...................geo
