New Gm Promo?

I know this may not be the right forum for this but......

Today I went in to a GM dealer to test drive and possibly trade for a new vehicle. I was almost ready to make a deal and the salesman, who happens to own part of the dealership, told me to wait till Monday. He said GM was about to make an announcement in regards to their 100th anniversary, and that I might be able to get a better promotional deal /offer by waiting. Anybody have any ideas about what might be in the wings in regards to the 100th anniversary?

Can they actually discount them anymore without paying you to drive one off the lot? The discounts around here have be huge! Not unusual to see $10,000+ off MSRP, and with a little saavy negotiating, it could be even more! Dodge has been advertising the Ram 1500's at 50% off MSRP! (Nothing like a buy one, get one free deal on a full sized pick-up!) No wonder the Big 3 are reporting record losses!

The down side of these huge discounts is, trade-in values are going to be crap for the next several years! Although, with most of the Big 3 saying they are going to cut production of full-sized Trucks and SUV's now might be a good time to pick up a couple at dirt low prices and garage them for the next 5 years! Then, when the average construction worker or farmer who has to rely on a decent truck to make a living can't find one because they don't make them any more, or the price is so high due to limited availability, you could cash in and make a few bucks by selling that at 2008 MSRP pricing, and probably still be giving your buyer a huge break! Wish I had the spare cash to give it a try...

Nice to see ya, Paul!

Yep, it's been awhile! The new job is killing me... Management sucks, it's like I have a load of kids to tend to all over again! Hope you're doing well!

No, but take a trip to Atlanta GA, they're practically giving them away here! Might be worth the trip...

I am, thanks. Yeah, I feel like a babysitter for groan adults everyday. It's amazing what an effort it is to get people to work. Keep in touch with us!

Around here, ford's are about $20,000 of msrp. A friend of mine picked up an F-250 fully loaded for about $30,000 That is a $50-55 thousand dollar truck she picked up. We are both teachers, and we get invoice price + incentives on Ford and Chevy vehicles, so she got a heck of a deal.

I still owe approx $28k on my 07 NNBS Ext cab silvy. I wonder if the new deals can offset all of that negative equity?

Unfortunately, most dealerships don't even want to entertain full sized trucks and SUVs as trades, so even if you're luck enough to have them take your truck on trade, they'd probably rape you on the trade value and your negative equity would eat up any incentives plus some! I'm betting you'd be better off keeping your truck, or sell it out-right, hope you can get pay-off, and buy the new one without a trade-in!
