Found A Job Finally!

Hey guys...just had to post about this because I can finally breathe a little easier....AND I get to keep my truck!!! I was laid-off back in February and the regional job market for electrical engineers of my specialty has been a little tough. After 5 months of fruitless job hunting... I was bombarded with 2 good job offers last week. One was over in Harrisberg, and one was closer to Pittsburgh. I took the Pittsburgh job, and they even offered me a little more money than my old job!

Man, do I hate job hunting while being laid-off. Uncertain futures suck. I'm only comfortable knowing that I can see 1 year into my future and know that my life and cash flow are stable. For the past 5 months...it was tough for me to see beyond 2 weeks. Stressful and dehumanizing. I'm lucky enough to have friends who've let me live with them since May until I find another apartment. Now I can start looking for my own place again, and use the truck to haul all my crap!

I know my situation is pretty easy compared to some others. There are lots of good people out there who don't have jobs yet, but DO have houses & families to support. So I consider myself to be lucky in regards that I only had myself to worry about. If any other members are going through what I did....keep your chin up! GM-Trucks members tend to be very supportive!

Congrats, Pete!

This economy has been tough on everyone...I can't imagine what you went through in this job market.

That's great.Hope your new job treats you good. Now you can sleep at night..... :troll:

Thanks guys. It's gonna be a rough start. I'm working for a company that makes industrial heaters for manufacturing facilities and power plants. Their high voltage engineering dept is almost non-existant right now so it's part of my mission to get things running, and (in time) build up the department into a productive group again. It'll be a challenge...but it's what I love.

Thanks again for all the support. Spending time on the forum actually did help me keep my sanity this past spring!
