I liked the one where the guy is sleeping in the back of his GMC. That was me for years dreaming of finally getting my 1st new truck.3 points

I didn’t do anything but Mother Nature decided to add some snow. I know it’s not a big deal for most of y’all but snow down here in southern Arizona isn’t something that happens often.2 points

Got some CK161's the other day. I havent seen these wheels until a few weeks ago and have never seen them in person until I bought them. Guess they arent popular but I got them for dirt cheap with newish tires and tpms already install. I also installed the retrofit HID headlights a few weeks back, that I bought off a member here a while back. Going to pull the dip off the grill back so its back to chrome later this week.2 points

The days of GM building stuff that's easy to service went out with the Oldsmobile 350 diesel, unfortunately1 point

Me personally, if I had a motor that the OEM called for 0w20, I would probably use 5w20. 0w20 and 5w20 are both 20 weight oils. Very same kinematic viscosity. The only difference is winter cold flow, and the difference is miniscule. But, the 5w20 has a significantly lower NOACK (burn off rate) than a 0w20. Read that as meaning the risk of deposits building up in the motor is less with a 5w20 than a 0w20. That can be a very good thing with these VVT and AFM controlled engines. That is primarily because it takes more polymeric viscosity modifiers in the oil blend for a 0w20 to reach the winter cold flow it is rated for. And while the base oil doesn't break down, under certain conditions the polymeric viscosity modifiers can break down. In the case of 0w20, the cold flow rating is -35c. 5w20, the winter cold flow is -30c. That is lower than most folks will encounter consistently in the winter. Also, there is not a dealer or OEM on the planet that can tell the difference between a 0w20 and 5w20 if they pulled a sample from the engine. It just isn't possible to determine the difference in used motor oil. Next off, while dexos1 gen 2 does not have a 5w20 on the "approved" list, there were a batch of them on the dexos1 gen 1 list. GM just decided to make the Gen 2 spec to mean only 0w20 and not include the 5w20. In almost every case, the same type of motor oil from a blender will have the same level of additives in the mix for all the oils in that class. 0w20, 5w20, 0w30, 5w30, 10w30 in the same product line almost always has the very same add pack in the blend. GM is required to recommend the 0w20 since that is what they use for their EPA testing. And Federal regulations require that the same oil range used in testing be recommended to the vehicle owners. I might want to stick with a 20 weight over a 30 weight, but I would certainly use a 5w20 instead of a 0w20. That anyone would see 1 qt of oil used in 6000 miles probably makes the case. I have a factory remanned 12.7L Detroit engine in a heavy truck that now has 920,000 miles on the reman. It uses 1 qt every 12,000 miles. It uses a 10w30. Again, significantly lower polymeric viscosity modifiers in the mix. If one doesn't need a 0wXX cold flow rating, it really makes not appreciable sense to use it. My 2015 2500 6.0 gets a 10w30 oil also, instead of the 5w30 that GM recommends for the same reason. It uses about 1/8 of a quart in 6000 miles at most. I would be willing to bet that many folks with the Ecotec engines would see a lower oil consumption by using a 5w20 compared to a 0w20 unless the motor has other issues.1 point

Milk man arrives at a cutomers house to fill an order as usual. When he approached the door he read the order form and saw it read "25 gallons". As this was not the normal amount the man knocked on the door to inquire. Lady: Hello can I help you Milk man: I see you have 25 gallons of milk and I wanted to know if it was a misprint and maybe you only need 2.5 gallons? Lady: No, 25! I read about how if you bathe in milk it will make your skin soft and healthy, taking years off my looks Milk man: haha, that makes sense. Would you like it pasteurized? Lady: no, no, it's only got to come up to my neck........1 point

Bought one of these (Dorman 917-412 (tall) or Chevrolet Performance Oil Fill Tubes 12559505 (short)), and modified it some to fit the Oil Filler hole of a 2018 Silverado Now I get to pour oil into a level hole opening, rather than one tilted to 45°. Never understood why they removed these, or made them a non-interchangeable part at least.1 point

Got my AJT designs key fob today and I decided to color fill the buttons. I was super tired of the crappy sticky rubber on the oem fob. This is great quality so far and is way thicker than the oem one. Not much bigger in terms of the footprint also. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I just put this addition on last year - a year ago this week as a matter of fact. I just finally got around to running outlets for where the oil burner is going. My biggest problem is I'm a mechanic ... but also a carpenter, electrician, mason, and plumber around here. I NEVER catch a break! Just the other night, right before bed, of course, I lost my heat in the house. I've got a coal stoker boiler that I tied into my oil boiler 5 years ago. I've been running an old PC power cable to the stoker controller, since it's the only thing that fits that strange 3-pronged recessed male-pin plug on it. I must've been extra tired, since I let the wire fall down and lay on the hottest part of the boiler. Melted through, and tripped the breaker. I noticed the hot water getting lukewarm - luckily that tipped me off before going to bed. Sucks waking up to a 50° house, let me tell ya! So I go down there, not knowing what the problem was - hit the breaker. It immediately trips, so I start walking around doing a visual on both units. Saw the cable & peeled it off the boiler. It left some copper behind - must've made a nice spark before the breaker tripped! Grabbed my electrical repair stuff out in the barn, fixed it pretty quick. I figured that was an easy one. Hit the breaker - NOTHING! Now I'm boiling mad! It's midnight, and I have to be up in less than 6 hours on Sunday morning. Now I've got to troubleshoot an electrical problem! Wife heard me swearing, so now she's down there trying to help (made her my tool runner, lol). Had to start right at the box. Got power at the breaker. Good. Follow the wire down to the back of the oil boiler - power there. Follow that to the next junction box. Got power going into and out of the emergency switch upstairs. Then I checked the thermal switch. BINGO. The short circuit must've fried it. By now it's 1am, so I bypassed the stupid thing and went to bed. Some day I'll rewire everything the right way. For now, we're warm. Had a pic of the wiring ... but looks like I'm limited on pic sizes ... depending on the time of day ...1 point

I think ya need your own "What cluster did Coby7 Repair today?" thread. How many do you figure you do in a year?1 point

This Morning so far LEDed a 2005 cluster in blue. Then did his HVAC also in blue.1 point

Well if I was down to one cluster a month I would probably quit but did almost 100 (96) this year so far. Instead of people paying the big bucks ( about 800$Cdn )to the dealer, well, this way they get out of it for 100-150. Nobody likes to spend $800 on an old vehicle. Doing a 2004 Escalade today, beautiful machine and he doesn't mind paying 150$ but he said he would rather pay a speeding ticket than to give our local dealer $800. Their labor rate as increased to $125 an hour plus tax. As for snowblower you know I own a Yamaha, so not a lot of news there, turn the key, it starts, blow snow then park it.1 point

How many folks have gone out to their truck to find all the windows down in a driving rain? Holding the button down a bit too long is easier to do than you think, like when remote starting. And, having something press against the button while in your pocket is not unheard of.1 point

I have a 2016 Sierra 3/4 ton with the 6.0. I don’t pull a fifth wheel but do pull a travel trailer that weighs about 9400# when fully loaded. Truck and trailer weigh about 17500 combined when traveling. I’ve traveled about 4000 miles this year with the trailer and I average about 7.5-8 mpg pretty consistently. Love the truck and have not come across anything she couldn’t handle while traveling. Hope this helps!1 point

For those with the "Off-road" screen on the Diver Information Center (DIC) that shows the 4WD mode and tilt/incline...It will also show which wheels have lost traction by changing from green to orange and flashing. Kinda neat1 point

I’m older ok, sure I used to buy upper model vehicles to get the latest technology. Saturation has been reached in my opinion. The last vehicle I bought was a base model, no stress. My phone does it all, music pandora, navigation, etc. blue tooth I’m happy. It’s made to drive, no wind noise smooth ride, a couple buttons, a dial or two and AC I’m happy. I don’t want it to talk to me or drive for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
