When I was a kid, I bought a bare bones truck and it did work. Now i have a truck with a few bells and whistles and it still works. Why not have them if you want them? I still tow a boat and still haul mulch, dirt, sod, and whatever else needs to be hauled for my house. Do I prefer my truck clean? YES! I spent good money and have pride in what I drive. Even in the bare bones WT, I would keep it clean and try to keep it free of major damage. It is going to get scratched here and there, but I don't think anyone just intends to beat the hell out of their truck that they spent thousands of dollars on regardless of whether it's 20k or 50k. My dad always said, 'take care of your s$%^ son because no one is going to just give you another one if you break it.' smart man, my pops.

wow, this thread has taken a serious turn for the worse. so many people putting words in my mouth that i didn't intend.

i simply meant that, while i do love the creature comforts that i opted to purchase in my truck, the truck has come a long way from just a workhorse. It is now a rolling media center that many buyers purchase for nothing more than to get groceries. there is nothing wrong with that. I am not trying to tell people how to spend their money.

I was just saying that many people discount a truck as being cheap if it is not full of gadgetry and plushness. Thank goodness Chevy makes all types.

Heated seat & steering wheels? Give me a break. Just another way to increase profits.

What did the people, do before we had those in vehicles/ Just like how did we survive w/o cellphones?

The wife's Tahoe has heated seats and they are very nice to have in the winter time. Do we need it? Nope. But if we can float the note and my arse gets warmed when it touches those leather seats that's all that matters. I can remember my younger days when my wife and I weren't on the financial platform we are now. Thats when I said, who needs Nav, leather or sunroof. I said it because I couldn't afford it. It's funny how your perspective changes when you have more money. My truck doen't have all of the extras because I like to throw money at it. But our Tahoe (family vehicle) has every option and once you've had it, you will want it again. Point is...people want it.

My truck is bare bones and I freakin hate that. I dont even have carpet or anything. I just want atleast auto doors and windows and a folding jump seat. That would be nice. Thats the only thing I do not like about my truck. I would love to have heated seats, cruise control, DIC, heated steering wheel, navi.

creature comforts are nice, except gm took my washer fluid heater. In WI were temps hover around and below freezing for half of the year it is real nice along with the heated seats. Heated wheel would be da bomb! My company truck has fancy crank windows, manual mirrors, am/fm radio, and dual headlights. would I wouldn't give for some of my denali features in a vehicle I put 3x as many miles on a year. my company gobbles up those bare bones vehicles, they are a necessary evil to do business but are a huge expense.

they make all types and they all get bought. if there were no demand then those models would no longer be around.

I went from a 2003 Impala SS with every option available to my truck which is bare freakin bone. I miss all my comforts.
