Handheld Programers Question

Recommended Posts

I recently installed a set of factory 20" gmc wheels and my speedo is off. I was thinking instead of paying the dealer to do I would buy a programer. what is good one to get that will allow me to adjust my wheel size as well as some other cool changes like more MPG or power?

I want to stick with a handheld unit. Not going to send my ecu off for a blackbear tune.

Thanks.

What size tires did your truck come with? Mine came with 265/70/17 (z71 package with 17" wheels). I put the same factory 20" wheels and tires as you with the factory 20" tire size 275/55/20. The 17" tires measure around 31.7" overall diameter and the 20" tires measure 32" overall diameter so the speedo and everything related would not be off. But that depends on what overall diameter tire yours came with.

If it was me I'd get the blackbear autocal which is a handheld.

They were 245/75/17. Even then the spedo was off a bit. I bought the truck used.

Oh, that is quite a difference then. Yeah I can see why you would need the handheld. Again, if it was me, I'd look into an Autocal by blackbear. You don't send them your ecu out with that one.

Nice looking truck by the way. If they would have had a white one optioned like mine, it would have been a hard choice between the two colors.

I was in the same boat. It was between your color and white.

Truthfully I'd probably had gone white too but who knows. My wifes 05 denali xl is white and looks great (when I can manage to keep up with cleaning it).

I hear you there. Keep it waxed and the dirt just falls off of it.

What about a Diablo Sport. I'm reading the settings and it looks good. And half the price of the blackbear. The main thing I want to do is adjust the tire size.

Any input would be great.

If you're referring to the Predator, it's a good handheld with good support. But they won't be making it anymore becuase Diablo is going strictly with the Trininty...which isn't cheap.

huh? not true...

predators will be replaced with their new programmer, the inTune... which will be coming out shortly... actually are looking for test vehicles right now for it.. you must be local to diablosport (Delray Beach, FL.)...

and yes, will still have the Trinity - that is the top of the line tool... the inTune will be replacing predators...

i have the diablosport trinity and it works great. modifying the tune for speedo calibration is very simple.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I went ahead and picked up a Hypertech Max Power off of ebay for 150.00. remember all I want to do is adjust for tire size.

Thanks again everyone.

You may as well install one of the canned tuner while you are adjusting your tire size.
