Rear Camera Install

I have decided I want to install a rear camera with the display in the rear view mirror. I have a 2009 Silverado with Onstar, the auto dimming rear view mirror, and RPO YE9. I have seen kits to do this but they seem way over priced. I can get the mirror for about $200 and a camera that mounts to the license plate bracket for about $80. I will run the video cable to the mirror and then solder wires to the shield and the center pin of the video cable. My only problem is where do I get the pins to crimp on the wires to insert into the connector for the rear view mirror? I would need the pins, crimper and I would like to get a pin extraction tool. Thanks in advance.

You can buy the mirror off of ebay for about 220 dollars and the camera off of camera source for 100 bucks. It comes with instructions and will have all of the pins and directions on where to install them.

I don't know if you have ever heard of FRY's Electronics, but we have them here on the Left Coast. They have a website, so you can order online. They have all the pins, crimping tools, and extractors. Be really careful when you order the size, they are tiny and its hard to tell by eye what the difference is between the sizes. Ask someone who is an electrical expert on the forum what size the pins are. You'd be surprised how easy it is. You can use any regular crimping tool, they are not special. The extractors are a bit pricey if you will only use it for one job. The pins are cheap, like $3.50 for a box of 10 (male and female ends). Good luck.
