Yeah pretty much. Unfortunately it's not mine as with my promotion I got an 07 F-550 6.0 but i'll still get to drive this truck every now and then. I'll let you know how it does handling a constant 10K plus all the time.

I've always wondered how the rail wheels are powered- is there some sort of PTO to drive them or do they have their own power source? I bet driving a truck on rails is weird as hell! I wonder how long it'd take before I'd learn not to steer in corners.

Those are just guide wheels to keep the truck tires on the rails. You will notice the truck has special wheels to fit the track width.

We had a suburban at the DOT that was outfitted for the rails.

If you look the wheels look like dually wheels and have a major + offset. All you do is lower the guide wheels and lock them in place on the tracks and the trucks tires power you down the rail  This truck is allowed to go 45 MPH by our company's standard. I have a feeling they can go faster :jester: And no unfortunately they don't come with train horns.

Well guys I got to drive the truck for a day and the 6.0 with the 6speed is an awesome combination!!! It handles the weight well and the trucks definitely ride a lot better than the old ones. I really like it and just wish it was mine to drive all the time!

This is a little off the topic but for the last 23+ years I have worked for General Electric. We build the big 4400 HP diesels that power your locomotives. This year we built over 2000 new and remanufactured engines at our plant.
