So I got quotes from two local body shops to have my door handles and mirror caps painted and installed. I already had the parts on hand but I was still surprised to find that one quoted me $413 and the other $400. For those of you that have already had this work done, does that sound high or just about right?

I have never looked into it, but that sure seems high to me. Seems like you could buy the parts new and painted for less.

i did buy the parts new through gmpartsdirect. the price is for painting and labor to install.

I received a price from a local place to paint my mirror caps on my 2000 Silverado for like $250. Did em myself

 

$400 probably sounds right to paint and clear. They arent using much paint but there is alot involved also (supplies, mixing paint, cleanup, etc.)

i dont have the equipment or know-how to do it myselft. he also said something about baking them. not familiar with that process.

That's a fair price considering the work involved.....They need to prep, prime, match your paint, clear, allow to properly dry (heat) install.
