Who loves driving in tow mode?

I did this just the other day to see what it would do, and it surprises me how much TM GM puts in them from the factory. Truck felt like another animal, but I didn't leave it in there long for fear of tearing something up. I'm glad to see others are doing it with minimal side effects.

It won't tear anything up, It really just gives you different shift points. Might burn a bit more fuel, but much better drive.

Yeah after driving in tow mode the other day I am really thinking a BB tune is in my future, if anything to help pull the weight of the wheels and tires better.

I like to use T/H mode in anything over 40mph I think it keeps my truck in 4cyl mode longer thus saving me gas plus when I wanna have some fun its great for that as well

I can't imagine that it would do this. "In Tow/haul mode my truck helped me do my taxes!" Does anyone know the details of how the tow/haul mode remaps everything? I know it holds gears longer, engine braking, and quicker shifts, but I haven't seen any other major differences.

From watching the DIC on my wife's Tahoe, it keeps it in 8cyl mode longer. The only time it switches to 4cyl is on a downhill coast, until the grade assist kicks in.

No way t/h mode is saving you gas OR keeping it in 4cyl longer. Your truck will run at a higher RPM with the tow haul mode selected.

Z71 AST,

Tow haul mode will hold a gear longer and shift out at a higher RPM.

Never really used it anytime outside of when I've been towing a trailer....I may just have to give it a try tomorrow though, as I'm going to be working from my truck all day.

My truck goes into 4 cyl mode more often...and stays longer...when I use tow/haul. However, it's usually in a lower gear than it would be normally, so it's turning more RPMs....which gives it enough power to stay in 4cyl mode. My mileage still seems to drop a bit when using tow/haul though, because it holds gears longer.

This is exactly what I have found.

I don't use mine as often as some of the other posts but I will put it on when driving into a wind or driving up ANY sort of a grade.

I have never felt the engine braking with my 2010 when in tow/haul. Is that something that was added in after 2010?

You arent applying the brakes hard enough. I find that the harder you hit the brakes, the more aggressive the engine braking gets. My wifes 09 Tahoe does it when you jam on the brakes in TH mode, but if you feather the pedal and slow to a nice easy stop, you wont feel the engine braking feature.

Yea find a nice down hill grade and it will work, normal flat driving doesnt seem to do it for me

I like driving mine in Tow/Haul mode. With my black bear tune, I have the Tow/Haul button programmed as my "haul ass" mode. It rocks!

I read that you could just this when you get a BB tune. I will eventually get a tune from BB, and I believe I will also have my T/H mode button set to a higher performance mappings. Sounds like it would be pretty cool.
